    Hi Dan

Well, first that is great news, the 3 year anniversary on May 5th, 2011...so many Happy Returns for the day...and we are all so glad that you did "officially started".

Having developed software, in my early days...I can to some extents sympathise...just glad that you persevered.

You have thanked many times over by keeping us posted and keeping the faith with what is a brilliant app (and now, apparently...insanely great ;)).

Looking forward to V2.0 very much...but you know what we all think re. release...so I won't repeat it.

    Regards, and respect.

Congrats Dan. VoodooShield is a great product. Greatness is worth waiting for. You've come a long way with everyone here. I can't speak for everyone but I think Voodooshield has developed into a wonderful product. Keep up the good work. Happy Anniversary.

After 7 long months, we finally finished! This version should be absolutely safe to run on any computer, but please still keep in mind it is a beta version.

There are a few very small things that we need to finish up this weekend, they will be easy to fix, and besides, I am sure you guys will find other small bugs!

    1. The new publisher feature is not quite working right

    2. The Auto Reactivate After Returning to a Web App is not working quite right either

    3. If you click on an executable too many times… VS turns white and stays white. I am not sure if we are going to change this or not. What are your thoughts?

    4. The web snapshot is in transition, and we are going to figure out what to do with it while you guys are testing the beta, so right now VS only has a local snapshot.

Other than that, it should be pretty much bug free, but if you run into any problems, you can uninstall and it should be fine. I would uninstall VS 1.30 first, reboot, then install VS 2.0.

I am going to take Molly for a walk and take a long nap. I will try to go back tomorrow and read and reply to all of the posts I missed! Thank you guys, we really appreciate all of your help!!!

Thanks ever so much, Dan...and well done for getting to this stage. I will be uninstalling v1.30 and installing the beta shortly and then giving it a run through. In terms of your question re. 3. above not quite sure yet by what you mean when you say 'too many times' and not sure what VS turning white implies in terms of protection...but will give that a try as part of my initial tests.

Have a great walk and a relaxing nap...you more than deserve them.

Finally, where would you like us to report feedback on v2.0...here or via the support channel on the website?

    Regards

    Baldrick

    Hi Dan,

I see that VS still requires .NET Framework. Not to worry, I have another snapshot to try it out in, that has the necessary requirement. ;)

    Thank you guys!

@ Baldrick, feedback is great either place, whatever you prefer. Sorry, I should have clarified on the "too many times"... If a user clicks the heck out of an executable during testing, VS will keep blocking it, no matter how many times or how fast you click. But at some point, if you click too fast or too much, the shield stays white. In a way, I kind of like this, but it might be better for it to just keep flashing.

@ Tarnak, yeah, VS still requires .net 3.5 and now also require a C++ runtime, as you can see in the picture. But since .net 3.5 is baked into Windows 7, it should not be an issue and for Windows 8 and 8.1, it just has to activate and update .net 3.5. I know a lot of people do not like .net, but a lot of developers insist that it is the only way to go for the GUI. The C++ runtime is already on most computers, and it is a small, harmless install... it basically just copies some small C++ libraries to your computer.

BTW, I optimized VS 2.0 for 7, 8 and 8.1, so they are all good to go. Later this weekend I will do the same for XP. Basically, what I mean by optimize is to make sure all of the system stuff, like control panel items, are not blocked by VS, along with a few other optimizations.

I just noticed that VS is not learning correctly when the shield says OFF, but it is an easy fix. I guess our focus has always been on blocking, and we kind of forgot to test what happens when VS is in Training ;).

Since this version is a complete redesign from scratch, there will be some minor bugs, but overall it seems to be running great on my test systems. Thanks again!

I'm using Windows 7x64 Ultimate. I'm using VS with NOD 32 AV only. No other real-time security
    installed.

    1. VS did not load at startup after the installation. I had to manually start VS. I have rebooted
once since then, and VS loaded at startup the second time.

    2. Clicking the tray icon in Training Mode, Smart Mode, and Always On Mode does not open the GUI. I
would like to see an option to disable changing the Mode of operation by clickcing on the tray icon. I
would rather see the GUI opened instead when clicking on the tray icon.

    3. VS is allowing all executions of .exe files digitally signed, and not digitally signed. VS is
doing this in Smart Mode, and Always On Mode. Vs is not scanning any of the files with VT either. If
VS is scanning them I never got a single notification of any file being scanned. I unticked the
option to allow digitally signed files to execute, but VS is still allowing all .exe files to
    execute.

    4. VS is not logging any of the files it is allowing to execute. My log is completely blank despite
    running 8 .exe files.

At first glance I though VS was working really good because my desktop gadget would change from OFF,
to ON just as soon as I opened any of my Web browsers. Firefox, Opera, and IE. VS just is not working
on my system. I suspect it could be a major bug with the new feature added that allows digitally signed files
to execute. If it is though it is allowing all .exe files to execute digitally singed, or not. I have
not tried any other executable files other than .exe.

The only thing I know to do is rollback to a previous image, and don't try executing anything before unticking allow digitally signed files. That still does not account for any files not being scanned. Does VS only scan files if they are blocked? In the settings it says automatically scan blocked files with cloud based scan engine. I think if one is going to use this feature they would want all new executions to be scanned attempted, or allowed. Is anyone else seeing the same behavior?

I'm going to be gone for a few hours. I will try to execute some files without the digitally signed feature ever ticked when I get back.

I am, but running on a live system, i.e. no VM, and had a few hiccups. Sorry, about your misfortune.

    Hello Dan,

I uninstalled VS 1.3o using Revo Uninstaller. Restart.

Installed VS 2 Beta without problems. Restart.

Then, no graphical "gadget" is shown. Also, no tray icon.

But,there is one process on the Task Manager that runs: VoodooShield Service, occupying around 4-5 RAM, 0 CPU usage.

I tried some installer on my Downloads folder, they all run. What could be the matter? Thanks.

First off, I saw this, and said no to it, because I didn't think it was applicable to XP. More applicable to Vista, and later versions.

Then I had a problem because it needed C++, and it didn't install first time around, so I had to cancel the install.

Anyhow, I ran the installer, again...and second time around, I was successful.

However, when I originally went to check the images, to see how I they looked before posting in this thread, using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer in XP, I got the following, which I knew was caused by the (now) installed VoodooShield.

I just disabled VS, and then they would open. Minor problem, or nuisance.
