If traditional AVs are failing, why isn't everyone flocking to Webroot?

Most people don't know what AV they're using, let alone what it does or how it does it, which is why education is helpful (although getting it to reach a broad audience is difficult). On the other hand, 30+ million users certainly isn't anything to complain about: we've had a massive growth in our userbase in the last two years and the highest satisfaction ratings across the industry.

I've been hearing how AVs have been failing for many years now and don't see the evidence of it on this forum.

To be fair it's not a lot of infected users in ESET's forum either....mostly angry developers complaining that their software is detected by ESET due to PUA's in their software/installer. But then I don't see ESET as a "traditional" AV solution either.

I actually wonder, what exactly is a traditional AV solution?
I don't feel like watching the whole video to find the answer to be honest :doubt:

I don't rate webroot either. Yes I'm aware of how it works and I still don't rate it.

I don't think most people are going to want to sit through nearly two hours to find out why traditional AVs are failing. From a marketing perspective, they'd want short explanations that are to the point. Admittedly, the webinar is aimed at the business sector, but even then I don't believe they have the time to sit through something like that.

Any reason, or just a dislike of products named nearly at the end of the alphabet? :)

The results, DO indeed, speak for themselves. There is no logical way to argue with success. Enough said.

Just a correction: the video is actually over an hour long, but I think my point still stands.

I made the mistake of saying it was over two hours long. I misread the timer. My apologies, and that's why I wanted to correct the original post, but I couldn't edit it. :/ And yes, if anyone does want to watch the hour long video on this subject, I agree that is fine. :)

I read this at Wilder's on a different topic:

We can see something I have been worried about, Webroot's 'closeness' with the US Govt., and now the fact they collect 'all' of the information on 'all' of their users, including information that is personally identifiable.. So... Interesting how 'specific users' can get 'specific updates', if a company didn't answer NO to that, then I wouldn't want anything to do with them personally, as there should be absolutely no capability to impact an individual user from remote. Also, any AV that transmits Windows Username would be something I couldn't consider running as well, that's a security/privacy compromise that has no business being transmitted. Shame on you companies.

Looks like Panda needs a closer look - they are in the top for 'No' checkoffs. While the USA-Based companies are clearly datamining their customers. Which again, I have warned against US-Based products for quite some time now. Only thing missing.. IBK needs to show a 'combined total' with an easy to read summary to finish it off.

Ahn, Emsisoft, eScan, Panda, Fortinet are the overall winners, with Avira and Bullguard close behind.. Webroot/McAfee/Norton/Trend seem to be the WORST offenders.

Seriously, such extraordinary claims need at least a source. And I can't find one.
