if Ziggy is a developer for Ikarus don't congratulate him
on a Win7 32 virtual machine the product showed itself heavy,
    with both RAM and CPU,
unresponsive and a bit erratic on its reactions

someone on this thread said something about Ikarus
caring mainly for company clients instead of home users
I say I hope company clients are happy

Hi Joxx, i am sorry to hear you having problems. What version of Ikarus are you using? Latest version has to be 2.7.19. And did you do a full system scan so the scan cache can kick in? Ikarus is showing high ram-usage what is normal because virus definitions are in the memory for faster scanning. I have 275 Mb of ram being used and don't care about as in my case i have enough ram. CPU usage is nearly zero here. Maybe the problem is VM related?

As for company, i am running Ikarus security manager at my school on a 2003 server with XP, Vista, 7 and 8 clients with nearly 800 students using infected USB-sticks all day long in school PCs and i have no problems whatsoever *crossingfingers* it is just working. And whenever i have a small problem i just call support and let fix him the problem with Team Viewer while i have a cup of coffee while listening to Tschaikowski, right Ziggy? :)

I just installed the new version, but am unable to try it due to having tried the previous version.

I've just emailed Ziggy to see if can give me a trial licence, so I can try the new version.

It's a shame when new releases of software are made with notable changes and you can't try the new version due to having trialed a previous version. This is a problem I've experienced quite often in the past, with various software.

Roger please, its not a shame, because when you would like to test every update of a software (Windows for example) for free, you do not have to buy any piece of software.
I would wander about the quality then, when developers dont get paid for their work.
So please, as i wrote you, buy our software if you like it, (using the wilders discount) or in case you don´t like it you do not buy it anyways so it does not really make sense to give you a trial version each month from a software you don´t want to buy.

    br,
    ziggy

Ps.: please apologize but i don´t know any software where you can test as often as you are personally satisfied ;-) about it.

good to hear that someone infects a Virtual Machine with a 32bit OS ;-)
can you please email me your Computers specification (especially the specification given to the Virtual Machine) directly to ziggy@ikarus.at that i can forward it to our testing lab.

    br,
    ziggy

There is lots of software which lets you do this.

As I have just said to you via email, based on what I have read in this thread, the new version has less system impact. It would be nice to test it and see if if that is the case for me. If I was to test it properly and found it to be extremely light (which I doubt it would be, as antivirus software usually isn't), I would purchase it. If it wasn't I wouldn't buy it.

If this was just a minor update, I would have no interest at all in trying it.

And that's the way i love it! :) Too bad that i don't have more problems. :)

In case of roger_m i think you could allow new testing maybe not for a whole month but what about a week or 10 days? I mean this really is a major update for us users and in this case it would be appreciable to test if the major issues have been fixed.
