Is 'Download Protection' turned on? I just downloaded a file and a pop-up opened in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Only briefly though because it wasn't a very large file (blink and you'd miss it).

I've noticed that no downloaded file scanning notification is given if the browser is running inside the sandbox.

It gives sense and answer to tolis14. All browser actions including downloads are isolated from the system, so the download protection cannot "touch" downloaded files to check them.

OK, then I would try to reinstall IS. If that proves as unsuccessful, a report to developers would be probably needed, imo.

Well, I tried 369IS again with Windows 7 and it is an non-starter with me. I have two accounts on the system, one is admin and the other is a LUA. When logging in, 360IS requests admin privileges and when logged into the LUA, it cannot do a scan of any file when Right Clicking and selecting scan with 360IS. Right Click, select scan and a windows immediately pops up saying scan is complete. Got to details and it shows zero files scanned.

I had the same experience. Tried installing again on my Win 8.1.1 system after reading your post, and all works fine. While the version number is the same, the letter at the end of the download file has changed.

just a guess, 360 is sometimes blocking software without any kind of notificiations (no log etc), example : its blocks teracopy and core temp the last time i try it(a few months ago), maybe its blcok something from win 8.1.1 installation (note: its can be solved by make an exclusion for the blocked exe)

I downloaded the Chinese company Qihoo's "360 Internet Security" at http://www.360safe.com/internet-security.html and installed it after my Avast Anti-Virus Pro subscription expired. The reason was that "360 Internet Security" scored very high in tests done by AV-Test (http://www.av-test.org/en/home) -- even higher than Avast Anti-Virus Pro. The reviews of "360 Internet Security" make it sound like the most effective free anti-virus program.

The one Avast function I miss, is "Safe Zone", a function isolating work done on a website from the rest of the Windows system. Its ideal for working on one's internet banking site.

Does "360 Internet Security" offer a similar security advantage, perhaps in a roundabout way?

It has a Sandbox where a program can be run in isolation from the Windows system. You drag the program's run button to the Sandbox and start the program from the Sandbox. If the program produces files, they will be saved inside the Sandbox. Spyware active in the Windows system cannot trace any activity in the 360 Sandbox, if I understood correctly.

One can also drag a browser, e.g. Chrome, to the Sandbox and use this browser while it is being protected inside the Sandbox. If I open my internet banking website using Chrome after it was dragged to the Sandbox, would I then have the same safety as I used to have with Avast's "Safe Zone"?

Unfortunately there is no "360 Internet Security" user forum. The support email address offered by the Qihoo company has not returned an answer to any question I have sent to date. So I would be very happy to find advice here on how to do safe internet banking with "360 Internet Security" providing the safety. If you would like to advise against using "360 Internet Security", don't hesitate to do so.

I installed this over the current version, but it still says 2.1.0.1156. Maybe I have to do a complete uninstall reinstall.

Actually the GUI has the new number, but when I check for updates, it says I have the program version above.

As far as I know, a sandox only stops malware from getting out. It wouldn't do any good if, for instance, you already had a keylogger on the system. I think it would still be able to see what was going on inside the sandboxed browser. So I'd say it wasn't as secure as using 'Safe Zone'. Using Bitdefender's 'Safepay' would seem to be a good way of achieving the same measure of security as using Avast's 'Safe Zone'.

I notice that the BD defs are 1 or 2 days old and the Avira defs are 1 day old even after updates.

I think that 360 Total Security is not ready yet. Avira and Bitdefender were both grayed out (not working) when I installed it. 360 TS optimization stopped a program or two from starting up with Windows startup. The fact that this beta version is taking so long to be fixed, makes me wonder how dedicated Qidoo is to their free product at this point. Perhaps not enough English subscribers to the 360 project to warrant further investment?

Avira and Bitdefender are both grayed out by default. You have to activate them manually.

I used this in the past in a VM. I stopped using this suite & any other that uses the Bit Defender engine when my Windows 7 64 bit computer crashed with a Blue Screen. After that I have used Avast or avira which gives me no trouble. My main AV is Eset ESS. I have no Idea why the Virtual Machine doesn,t just crash but it seems the whole system goes down. I did notice that if I do not install the Bit Defender engine I have no problem. I haven,t used this suite for 6 months or so but I am still reluctant to ever use an AV that incorporates the Bit Defender engine.

Interesting. I run BitDefender Antivirus Plus on one Win 7 64 bit machine, and 360 Internet Security on two others. I've never had a problem with either one.
