    @privaZer Team:

When (run PrivaZer without installation) or (generate the portable version) box is checked
the following windows registry key is deleted.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARP Cache

No ARP Cache. Haven't done any cleaning operation or scanning of registry keys.

    PrivaZer version 2.17.0

    Hello Compu KTed,

    that's normal.
Portable version of PrivaZer removes traces of PrivaZer itself on PCs where the portable version was used.
As ARP Cache may contain an entry showing that PrivaZer was used on the PC, ARP cache is cleaned once portable PrivaZer is closed.

Portable PrivaZer operates in "stealth mode".

    Hope it helps.

    @privaZer Team: Follow up questions.

Okay so if I installed PrivaZer (recommended option) would the ARP Cache registry key remain?
    (no deletion)

Also is it normal for PrivaZer to start Task Scheduler service and create file in C:\WINDOWS?
    (file name is SchedLgU.Txt)

I haven't performed any task yet, just loaded the interface.

I also noticed when I click on PrivaZer.exe > Getting Started and uncheck the update box
and also under advanced options > Updates and uncheck (Automatically check
for updates to PrivaZer) press ok and close PrivaZer, then restart PrivaZer the update boxes
are checked.(temp file is created named hcheck_updates_result)
I like to manually check for updates.

    Thanks.

    Hi
Just installed 2.17 but on the main screen where it asks what device do you want to scan I thought it is supposed to show C:drive but all I can see is: 'Computer' and seven others to choose to scan, with the 'ok' button.
Why can't I see C:drive and the 'scan' button.
I thought this program was going to scan my C:drive, show the results and I can pick what I want to delete, but I don't have any of that.
Has something gone wrong when I installed it?

    Hello Krafty,

this is okay. Just click the "OK" button when "Computer" is selected and you will get a dropdown list with all your drives available on your PC
like your C:\ drive selected by default. Run the scan...

    @Compu KTed
    1. if you use the installed version, the ARP cache will be deleted by default when you clean your C:\ drive
and not when you close PrivaZer.

    2. SchedLgU.Txt is the log file of the Windows Tasck Scheduler.
PrivaZer does not create a task if you did not schedule cleanups. Could be a coincidence...
Can you delete the file and try again? Do you have win7, XP, win8 ?

    3. This can happen if you did not use or save any settings file "PrivaZer.ini". It will be fixed in next release. Thanks.

    Thanks

I did not want to press anything just in case I deleted something I did not want to delete.
    Thanks for the reply
One other thing, on 'other software' a lot of them are 'greyed' out, such as 'Avast' which I know have installed.
    Why is this?

    @PrivaZer Team: Follow up

I can confirm that PrivaZer on install starts the Task Scheduler service which in turn
creates the SchedLgU.Txt file in the Windows folder. This file can be deleted.
(Note:Have not scheduled cleanups or performed any other tasks at this point)

After installing and starting PrivaZer: (Note: Only checked on XP OS)

1.Basic User and (C )drive checked
2.Under Select all > Registry box is only checked. All other settings I have unchecked.
    3.Select Scan button.
4.Scan completed and clicked on registry traces to examine.
5.Opened Windows registry to see ARP Cache key, but no Privazer entry listed.
6.Unchecked Registry setting box in PrivaZer and closed PrivaZer program.
(NOTE: No cleaning was performed, only scanning the registry)
7.Went back into Windows registry and ARP Cache key was deleted.

Also if I uninstall PrivaZer without performing any tasks it deletes the ARP Cache registry key.
(Procedure: Install PrivaZer > launch PrivaZer > close PrivaZer > Uninstall PrivaZer)

    Thank You.

I am a bit nervous about using this program.
I did a scan and it's going to be deleting a great deal of info.
One thing I don't want to delete by mistake is my Firefox session and all the tabs which Firefox opens when I start Firefox.
Will this be left alone or could it delete it by mistake?
Is there anything else that it could delete by mistake?
Has this program been designed to be as safe as possible?
Sorry for asking so many questions, but I just want to make sure, because after the scan a lot of information is going to be deleted.
So after the 'clean' and something goes wrong will I still be able to use the 'restore point' which I notice can be created with this program?
    Thanks

    Compu KTed,
    1. I checked in the code and you are right :) :
to remove traces of PrivaZer use, ARP cache and some other entries are removed when uninstalling PrivaZer OR closing it, portable or not.
    2. "Automatically check for updates" checkbox issue should be fixed now in the new v2.18

what about reduce cpu usage? It seem to take 40 - 50% cpu when cleaning with two or more tasks performed at the same time, and my PC become super slow turtle.
More question, what is the difference between Donors and Free version?
    Thanks!

    Hello cloudstr,

We will improve multiple cleanup tasks (I hope in next release) :

    1. tasks will run one after the other if 2 cleanups are performed on the same hard disk
    2. tasks will run in the same PrivaZer window, 1 cleanup/secure deletion = 1 tab
    3. No difference yet but soon it's going to change and have in mind that it helps us to survive and develop if you donate !!!

    Thanks

    Hello,

I use Opera Next and have been trying to figure out how to get PrivaZer to clean its cache. No matter where I plug in the path to the Opera Next cache, it either does not work or I get an "invalid" error. Am I doing something wrong or can this be added so when I do either a "Scan in-depth" or "Clean my internet traces in 1 click!" these can be cleaned?

    Hello all :)

I have cleaned c: 5 or 6 times today and privazer is still finding "trash" ! A lot...about 10000 $logfiles, MFT between 50 and 100, and so on...I didn't change the settings, I did one cleaning after the other. It seems it will always find something, is this "normal" please? When should I stop cleaning? Thanks a lot and apologize if this has been answered before, the thread is too long to read now !

I am having problems still with the on demand file wiping. It actually seems to be doing a lot better on a usb than it was. But I still sometimes get error messages and it says files were not wiped. But the files disappear. IN red letters it says error with the number files. So I guess they were deleted without wiping. This usually happens when I highlight multiple files to wipe. I am also having an issue when wiping single zip files and sometimes single files, like jpgs and gifs. It renames everything to zeros but then stops wiping. This has been happening a lot lately. So I have to go over the files again with R-wipe to finish wiping. Here is a screenshot.

    1. The version that I have installed is v2.19.0

    3. I'm not sure what you mean by path. Those particular files were on my desktop when I wiped them. But I have also had this happen on USB drives and truecrypt folders. I never delete anything I always wipe. No matter what it is. So sometimes I collect files and downloads and put them in one folder, highlight them, right click and "delete without a trace".
    4. You mean like make a video? I don't know how to do that. Is there some free software that I could install to do this?

    Thanks, Caspian
