    ShadowProtect version 5.1.4 (November 2013)

Now supports Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
Supports the latest version of VirtualBox--VirtualBox v4.3.2. Interim releases since v4.2.4 should work but StorageCraft recommends upgrading to v4.3.2.
Supports booting Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 backups in VirtualBox.
Improved localization of dialogs and messages.
Improved support for licensing and Cloud replication with backup images.

Did you happen to find any mention of Secure Boot support? I don't see it anywhere.

I believe that strictly involves the recovery environment, not the installed software; you need a recovery environment that is compatible with Secure Boot. My understanding is that such an environment is in the works but has yet to be released. There have been feature requests made for a Secure Boot compatible RE in the StorageCraft forum.

It certainly wouldn't hurt if you would cast your vote for a recovery environment that supports Secure Boot in the following threads (you need to log in to vote and anyone who doesn't have an account can register for one):

Yeah, you're right. The changes didn't affect the RE at all. The version at the download link is unchanged. :(

This software is OK for legacy systems.
For new computers with UEFI, the boot cd does not work. It's a shame SP has not caught up with the trend. Almost all other imaging apps, even free ones such as Clonezilla, are now supporting UEFI and secure boot. More than a year passed after Windows 8 was released, which surely pushed the popularity of UEFI and secure boot, and SP's reaction is not even responsive, not to mention pro-active like others do. Considering its price tag, I don't think SP is going to last long if it keeps ignoring the market trend.

    IMO, this is just sad.

StorageCraft has admitted they know the recovery environment won't boot under Secure Boot. But it now supports Windows 8.1? No, it doesn't.

Windows 8 with UEFI and Secure Boot was released on October 26, 2012. Nearly 13 months later, ShadowProtect still won't boot from a recovery disc on a PC with Secure Boot. On Windows 8 or 8.1!!

I've decided that whatever is going on, I'm finished with it. I won't be renewing and also won't recommend it.

I understand the frustration, but all they need is an RE builder for WinPE that is 64-bit.

Complaining here is fine but it certainly won't accomplish much. On the other hand, casting your vote in the threads at the links I provided just might. ;)

    LOL..
customers just vote with their money. If shadowprotect does not care this kind of vote, it's unlikely they will care an online vote on their forums.
    :D :D :D

They make it difficult to purchase this product. The official website says they do not sell direct to customers.
Can anyone give me a link to a place of purchase?

They sell directly to end users in the U.S. and Canada (at least). Otherwise, I believe you have to buy through a local reseller, who also provides support.

    Thanks timcan and prius04.

When I clicked on the Buy Now link, I was directed to this page.
But I'll try that link above.

It takes way too long to support Secure Boot. I got a free license, but I can't use it because the UEFI thing.

You can use it but you will, of course, have to boot in legacy mode using their x64 CrossPlatform RE. I agree that SC is taking a long, long time in supporting Secure Boot, though. According to the techs, the next major release of SPD will support SecureBoot.
