Avira is doing great. I hope they keep this going. If anyone asks me what free antivirus I recommend, it would be Avira.

My two favorites (paid), Emsisoft Anti Malware and ESET, also both did well.

I'm anxious for the new EAM release.

good results from Panda, too bad they introduced a nagging advertisement to upgrade. it appears on every computer start.

Qihoo coming back up from last test. Normal players Bitdefender, Avira, Emsisoft and Kaspersky doing well.

Emsisoft, Kaspersky and Avira are standing out in both detection and false positives. All AVs tested are better at protection than Windows built-in AV.

Good to see Baidu tested; it must have the old Avira engine.

Qihoo comfortably wins this battle of the Chinese vendors.

It doesn't have the Avira Protection Cloud, that's probably one major reason.

Well done to all vendors that did great and at the same time had zero FP's. :thumb:

This is no fluke, Avira is doing extremely well...

avast! did reasonably good. Could do a % better but 97.4% is still pretty good.

Ahh not really when you look at the number tested and the number missed. Kudos to Eset, Avira, Quihoo and Panda.

If that's the case, then even 100% is nothing to brag about...

Bullguard/eScan with long yellow bars reminiscent of the boat anchor of an AV taken out not long ago. I thought the former had improved.

BTW, despite the main test's sample size rocketing to 1264(!) just in this month, it has no bearing on the false positive test, so there are some serious offenders as usual.

Great result for Emsisoft with zero FPs considering that Bitdefender had 7 FPs.
    Thanks to IBK .

May be ranking is done based on % of compromise which is less for Kaspersky and emsisoft compared to avira.

It must be as you say, but then why not use the right terminology % of compromised rather then % of blocking? It isn't a big issue, granted, but the wording of their article is inaccurate.

I agree. It will confuse the first timers who are not regular readers of AV comparatives tests. They just should have quoted the ranks.
