The key point there to what Bruce said is that You purchased it and have valid proof of the purchase typically from cleverbridge but there are other valid places to make the purchase.

I absolutly not like the New MBAM 2.0 and the new Licens Subscription Model
that comes with 2.0.Whats your Position on That my Friends. And when they
start to ignore the Lifetime Licens User and force them into this new Licens
Model i will give up this Software.

It's a massive improvement over v1.x in my opinion.

Malwarebytes have made it very clear that lifetime licences will never expire.

It seems like artificial scarcity is applied to license instead of goods here. You create a situation where people feel an urgent need to purchase lifetime licenses so that they won't miss out on a good deal while it last.:p

I must admit that as a short-term sales strategy, it works (as evident here) and softens the impact of changing the license model. People usually react negatively to such changes but this gesture changes the focus temporarily.

I'm not really a fan of such moves though because it can (but not necessarily) bite back in the long run. The saving grace for Malwarebytes would be its reputation (loyal supporters would spread good word of mouth to potential customers in the future) and the fact that it sells licenses to Enterprises.

Well, the MBAM Pro lifetime codes are scarce. They can't be bought from Malwarebyte's by resellers/retailers, so the sale of the lifetime licenses will end sooner rather than later, for sure. Stock levels aren't indefinite.

Our intention wasn't to make it scarce or get everyone desperate to buy them. Our intention was to make sure that those people who saw we switched to subscription and went "gosh darn, why didn't I buy a lifetime license!" still had an opportunity somewhere. We of course had to hide it a bit :).

I wonder what the MBAM team plan in terms of market penetration with the new subscription model.

Reason is I see 2 possible problems in the home user market.

    1. Market saturation

Current MBAM home users already own lifetime licenses. Reduced pool to tap into.

Possible solution: Offer some form of benefits to existing lifetime license holders to entice them to add licenses (despite the change)

    2. Product differentiation and perceived benefit.

MBAM advertises itself as a supplementary antimalware in addition to the AV clients use. This strategy has been working so far because a one-time payment is less taxing on the home user. A relatively easy investment so to say. With the new subscription model, trying to convince future potential customers with AV to part with their cash will be harder.

Possible solution: Scratch the "sidekick" image and reposition MBAM's role to directly compete with the rest of the AV industry. Disrupt the market share of your competitors. Alternatively, strike up deals with other AV vendors to sell as bundles.

It would be interesting to see how things unfold.
