You mean for $2USD? I hope I am not misunderstanding. That's not sustainable for an antimalware program for a year; whatmore a lifetime license. Malwarebytes can't afford such deals.

If anything, I think Bill is shooting himself in the foot with such promos. I mean how many times has he done this...it's almost looking like a desperate move to sell more licenses.

Thank you for the new version, I'm sure a lot of work has gone into it under the hood. Like many, I'm unhappy with the UI in general and specifically, and look forward to new versions fixing some of these problems:

    1. Exclusions after PUP detection
There needs to be a way to mass select items for adding exclusions for PUPs from a scan, as it takes a long time doing it one by one for a deliberately installed program with many files and folders. Yes, one can go into Settings > Malware Exclusions and do it that way, but that's not a friendly UI decision. If there is another simpler way, then it wasn't obvious to me.

    2. UI Problems
The default window size for the scanning history log scrunches up the text on my 1920x1080 resolution screen:
    http://i57.tinypic.com/2coq4k0.png

    3. Silent scans?
I preferred the old version where one could explicitly have scheduled scans run silently. There have been times where I've seen MBAM 2 run the scheduled scans, and times where I've only seen it in the logs. My preference is for security software to adopt a low profile, rather than being "in my face" as MBAM has been in this new version.

    4. Malwarebytes advertisements
Please allow us to disable the Malwarebytes ads at the bottom of the screen.

    5. Separate notifications for web and system detections
The new version is either notifications ON or OFF. This mean one has to choose between the annoyance of continual web protection notifications, or missing out on being notified of potentially critical system detections.

A system detection OTOH is normally going to be a big deal, and typically a rare event if FP are low. A web protection block is fairly routine, so not particularly useful to see the notifications each time and quite distracting.

My preference would be the options for advanced configurations, allowing web notifications to be suppressed for particular processes e.g. the browser.

I have set MBAM to delay protection at startup for 180 seconds. But it starts without any delays anyways. :(

    @RJK3
I totally agree with the suggestions.:thumb:

It would be pointless. When was last time you encountered malware under Linux?

18 months of development and countless research hours.......
I know this doesn't seem a lot, but it's a first pass at all of the feedback......

What about your beta testers feedback? All of them were happy with v2?

    Good point. :thumb:

  9. Beta testers tend to be power users, so they tend to be less critical as "unbiased average user". Secondly test domain (all possible variations) of the in-house test team and beta-users testers in B2C market is often a fraction of the real world variations.

Even when doing the right thing, every software application faces relatively many issues in the first few weeks. Looking on how they handle comments in this forum, it looks like they take user comments seriously. Why fuzz on decisions which can only be adopted, not reverted, besides how many times can you change settings with just two basic options: IP-filter and EXE-filter?

Not "some", or "few", even "most"..... but "every"!
    Very confident statement indeed.....

    -------------------
Really? What about abandoned and the (ex)user say "good-bye MBAM" ?

  11. There is one disclaimer in this statement: It is only true when the real world domain has more variances (test cases) as the simulated world in the different test environments (lab world).

That said, name an application whose real world domain is not larger as the lab world domain.

Regards Kees (was a RC test-kees, will be a use-kees again when they iron out the system restore bug) :D

They also need to fix the BSOD's outlined in posts 176 and 221, which seem much more important than some minor GUI changes.

Then they can read posts 172 and 221 for that information; my post listed just the problems I had with the new version. The prioritisation we can leave to them.

I'm not sure what you've added to the discussion to be frank, or why you needed to quote such a lot of text for a single sentence reply.

If I buy an additional lifetime license -- will it mess it up if I don't activate it?

Is there a max time to activate or anything like that?

I already have two licenses, but am thinking of 'banking one' for a future computer purchase.

    Thanks,

It's fine to activate at your leisure :)

I have six licences and have activated half of them.

You could go to Services and change it to Automatic (Delayed Start). I had to do that months ago because it was conflicting with AX64 image recoveries. I'm sure though that the delay is less than 180 seconds though if that matters.

I'm sure that even if they stop giving product upgrades for lifetime license they will have to give database updates because its a lifetime license, otherwise its going to annoy lot of people out there.

I really hope they don't do what Super antispyware did and stop accepting them.

These bugs are ridiculous. I was forced to uninstall it again due to multiple, and relatively serious or annoying bugs.

Was this beta tested properly? When I test Adguard, the Adguard guys are careful to isolate and fix these issues. But we take it seriously, so seriously, Adguard guys sort of think we're all software engineers. My question is - who was testing MBAM, and why were these tragic bugs allowed to persist?

It's clearly not ready for primetime. I'm rolling back - yet again..
