gang I have used Paragon many times and survived to tell of it.
today I needed to backup 2 whole systems, remove/replace hard drives, and restore from the archive.
system 1 went just great: it is windows xp pro.
system 2 is not going just great: windows 7 pro

what happens, I have seen before but its been three or four years. the archive looks perfect: it backed up the "System Reserved" partition, and the main OS/Programs etc everything and the kitchen sink partition.

when I run the bootable media, it all looks perfect, just like on the first system, until I execute the restore. then it fails in that it only restores the System Reserved partition and skips the big one.

how do I force it to do the whole drive instead of just the easy part? should I go into the archive and axe the system reserved partition? or do the same but by putting the old drive back in and redoing the backup ONLY archiving the main partition, skip the system reserved?

    thanks much

Are you attempting to restore to a smaller drive? Even by a 1KB smaller?

    yes, that was it.

the 'quick' recovery wizard shows no errors, which was confusing to me.
when I went to the full interface I got the message 'cannot restore to this partition' and i realized it had no shrink feature

anyway, started from scratch and built a new drive.

    thanks
