nsm0220 seems to have a thing about Avast and if one was to search for
"when avast ruins my peaceful rest and says untrue things about my videos"
    one would be amazed

and why it has to keep going at Wilders only he would know

    :)

He continues here because he is banned from the Avast forum ( that is his gripe ) he then took his troubles to the Panda forum and got himself banned there also, soon there wont be anywhere left to complain;)

Oh boy!! Look if you have something against avast leave this topic alone and why are you so paranoid on AV;s they are just programs not life :D

Again youtube tests are not taken as tests here on wilders, its forum policy.

i have files from a malware pack on my pc(win 7 sp1 32bit) which i downloaded to test AVs.3 file still remains that do not get detected by Avast(using latest version & updates).however same files when uploaded on virustotal are detected as Win32:Trojan-gen & Win32:Malware-gen by Avast.these are the 3 files in question:

~link to live malware removed as per TOS here
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1915286

can someone here test if their avast detects them?i don't want to execute them for Avast to detect them as Avira on my other pc detects them just as such.

I finally ditched Avast after a number of years, even though my license is good until November. I just used the AV, not the whole suite. I had no qualms with detection or any of the other stuff people around here get all geeked about or bent out of shape over. My issue was the number of popup adverts and bloatware that was opt out instead of opt in.

I can understand a developer throwing in some garbage in their free product. That's the price you pay when you get it for free. But when you pay a subscription and you still have to do a custom installation to avoid the bloat and crapware, it's just too much. Avast should save that stuff for the free AV and not burden the paid customers with it. Grime Fighter? Who cares? I paid for the AV, I don't want to hear about Grime Fighter.

I ended up buying the 3 PC/2 year Bitdefender AV Plus 2014 deal from Newegg someone posted. It was an easy installation. I just run it in autopilot with a custom quick scan and full scan set up. I may go back to Avast some day, but not until they get rid of that intentional bloatware installation of theirs for the paid version.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong. I heard Avast got huge investment. So it must improve in near future.

Well done Avast. :D I don't understand why they do that but it's not a good idea at all. People don't want popups about grime fighter, toolbar cleaner and other junk, they just want a good AV. :doubt:

I just installed Avast 2014.9.0.2013 with only File Shield activated and I found out that I cannot disable "Scan file when writing" (I can un-tick the checkbox, but after clicking OK and reopening the settings tab, the checkbox is ticked back). Is this a known bug?

Nobody gives a damn about your clueless y00tube tests. Considering your favorite AV had to be taken out of AVC's future tests, all your posts in this thread along with many others are FILTHY rich coming from you.

I find the stance against nsm0220 here quite agressive. Yes, Youtube tests are not reliable, for determining a products detection rate, that is something else than what he seems to claim.
