Speed up internet connection? SG TCP Optimizer vs cFos Speed

Hi, I am connected to the net via fiber and a router. I have recently found out a couple of interesting programs, which claim to optimize one's connection:

• SG TCP Optimizer free
• cFosSpeed pay

surely there are others around ...
I am wondering if anybody has tried them out and can offer a comment. Thanks

 

I had tested internet accelerator 8 (paid) and it did speed up my cable internet. I have tried others like synei utility internet speed up, iobit advance system care 7, baidu pc faster and non were as good as internet accelerator in speeding up.

Buy a RAM defragger and a system booster at the same time.

 

He's referring to software on his end that supposedly optimizes an existing internet connection. SpeedConnect appears to be an ISP.

 

I tried cfospeed now and compared the speed in speedtest.net. No different between my default and cfospeed. No increase of in speed.

 

probebly, but speedconnect made only about 1mb/s faster my default internet speed when I tested it a couple of months ago. so not biggie.

I have a 25mb/s cable speed and my default speed (speedtest.net) is around 24mb/s in average.

When I tested internet accelerator speedtest showed a speed of over 25mb/s (about a 1 mb/s) faster but not much.

If you want a faster connection then contact your ISP and upgrade if possible.

 

Have to agree. I've tried many of these over the years and the improvement is negligible (and sometimes they make things worse). Not worth the effort.

 

I think they did make a difference back in the day when most browsers download managers were utter CRAP but i dont think they make any difference at all now.

 

Speedguide tools was useful for Windows95/98, but modern Windows has sensible defaults and I don't know of any ISP that is NOT configured to match these (they use standard ethernet settings).

cFosSpeed sounds like QoS. QoS can work well (prioitise latency sensitive traffic like gaming and voip), not a clue if cFosSpeed does or not.

 

cFosSpeed is the equivalent of a hardware QOS.

 

I thing most slowdowns are because of the web browsers or the web sites and downloading. Perhaps an speedup app should make tweaks for browsers; although I do not thing anything can speedup a slow downloads. online downloading is perhaps what we look in speedup softwares. Thats what I look for.

For example I have tested many browsers and download managers and web download and have seen different apps show different speeds for download.

For example with firefox downthemall I can get up to 2mb/sec download in firefox, while in chrome with its download manager on the same site I can get upto 1mb/sec. Now with my usual over 24mb/sec internet speed, it would mean that I should get over 3mb/sec (25mb/sec divided by 8 to get the download speed), but on average I get up to 2mb/sec ands sometimes even less then 1mb/sec. SO this alone means the internet speed I have to access sites and download is not optimized.

Anyway I think speedup softwares have their usefulness if they can speedup downloading files.

 

Also sometimes my download speeds go way down to a few hundred kb/sec, while the speedtest shows that I am at over 24mb/sec. SO defiantly something is not right and perhaps having a good speedup app that can fix this issue would be good.

 

Most likely ISP throttling.
