Naked browser is the fastest of all the browsers.

Plus lightest and no extra permissions like the popular browsers. Has real cool gestures to make browsing easy.

I recommend trying it. Lightning browser is also another nice one.

In fairness to all the apps for Android, the entire Android OS is an advertising platform. Google is an advertising company, first, last, always. All the cool Google stuff is free because of that.
That Dolphin thread goes into 2014 with developers still concerned about it's phoning home 24\7.

 

People have the same reservations about Chrome. There has to be a reason why there is so much free stuff. I know I can change my default browser to DDG in Dolphin. I doubt it will stop me using it as a browser knowing that it phones home. That is if it does.

I believe the filters are Creative Commons licensed, so I'm uploading the basic filterset and the filters + tracking protection as txt files. Whichever blocklist you choose must be renamed to urlfilter.ini

Dolphin (and others) may be innocent but I prefer to save my bandwidth for myself rather than using it for third party usage. Carefully consider the permissions of your apps.

 

Just use the instructions provided on their website. The rest comes by improvising. On the flip side, I have grown so used to Sleipnir that I have difficulty with other browsers sometimes now

I would be very wary of using Dolphin browser, there were a lot of privacy concerns with it back in 2011 when it was sending every URL visited to Dolphin servers.

Plus as quoted above they do have very invasive permissions.

Don't virtually all browsers have some privacy issues? Why is Dolphin any worse than Chrome for instance? There's a reason this stuff is free, something has to fund it.

 

Is the iPhone or the Windows Phone OS any less an advertizing platform? It seems to me that smartphones, tablets, readers, etc, all have a strong advertizing, marketing, tracking focus. Unless you root/jailbreak the device you don't even have admin rights! You can't even completely turn off GPS. These devices are designed to be tracked at every level. Can anyone achieve the level of privacy possible with a PC on a smartphone? I'd like to know how. As for Dolphin browser before I stop using it I'd like someone to explain how it's any worse than everything else on a smartphone and why it would be better to use some other browser instead.

 

Guardian Rom includes a comparable level of privacy-focused tools.

 

I'm not so sure about that, my understanding is that when I have GPS turned off on my Android devices, it is fully disabled.

You can be tracked less accurately just from your network location, but I have that disabled too.

 

Regarding GPS, in the US my understanding is it can be turned on remotely in response to dialing 911 to determine the phone's location (E911). I don't object to that. It's just an example of how the devices, as they come from the carriers, cannot be controlled by the user. More here:

I changed one of the settings as i prefer the links to load in the background and not appear as soon as the page is ready to display and i would have thought this would been better as the default setting although its no biggie as its easily changed.
Chris Lacy make really nice apps with the idea of being user friendly and saving time, Action Launcher has been my chosen launcher since i first tried it and Link Bubble looks like another app that i just may find i cannot do without.

 

Hmm... I almost never to go online with my Android mobile phone, but when I do need to, I just use Opera Mini which is already built-in. It's a lot faster due to data compression and websites don't look too broken as far as I can tell.

Yes, I'm aware that in terms of mobile technology I'm still at 1852. No watching videos in my phone, no reading documents, no games, and I won't log-in to any accounts I have, even if they're just forum accounts.

 

Firefox is so much garbage on Android I don't know where to begin. Hideously slow, buggy, page load stalls, bad formatting. NOTHING it has is worth it to me. Waiting 4 minutes to load a page on a 30Mbps 4G-LTE pipe is pathetic, but the 3-4 re-loads required when it stalls? Impossible.

They need to either fix it, to abandon it.. I am inclined to think they've abandoned it it's so behind the curve these days.
