Guys, I've been using Online Armor Premium for years and EAM (paid version) for a few months now (after using ESET NOD32 v4 prior.)

All seems to be working well on my two new Win 7 Pro computers. Wondering though, I have Windows Firewall off, but Windows Defender is on. Is this recommended with EAM? Or should I turn it off. If left on, is there much impact on a dual core system?

    Thanks,
    Chamlin

Nope, although i did enable beta updates i dont think it updated to a beta build because it only allows you to change that setting at the end of the install wizard and this error popped right after i closed the wizard.

Currently trialling the top rated suites and all have given me problems so far. I tried the Emisisoft Internet Security suite a while ago, had a few problems with it, but just installed the latest trial and all seems well and I'm liking it.

Are the default settings ok or should I tweak anything? Want good all round protection but not at the cost of system performance.

The problem should be fixed in the latest beta update that will be released in an hour or so.

There are a few additional settings you can use to improve performance:
    • Under Configuration/General disable the "Activate memory usage optimization" option. This will cause EAM to use more memory, but greatly reduces the amount of disk i/o during normal operation.
    • Under Guard/File Guard, switch to "Scan only programs before they are executed". This causes EAM to no longer scan files after they have been written to disk. Instead it will only scan files that are about to get executed. This will greatly reduce the number of files being scanned, without lowering your overall security.
    • Also under Guard/File Guard, disable the "Protect the PC even if no user is logged on" option. This will cause EAM to load slightly later in the boot, greatly reducing the impact EAM has on your boot times.
Those are the settings I use, which have no impact on security but somewhat reduce the overall performance penalty EAM has on a system.

I'm running a trial now of EAM 8.1.
Are there any safe settings to reduce the number of popups?
They can be confusing for less skilled computer users.

Just been setting up my protected domains for online banking mode. I noticed a lot of weird domains are being added as trusted, that Bitdefender Traffic Light blocks as dangerous?

Problem fixed after uninstalling and downloading the latest client to get the latest BETA.
I forgot that they let you choose BETA updates before it updates in the wizard so i must have gotten that bugged build.

I have now implemented the performance settings from Fabian Wosar.
To keep the popups down (thanks ctrlaltdelete for the PM in Dutch and Pars for the directions)
I have set all 3 options under surf protection to block and not notify.
At Alert settings I didn't activate the intelligent alert reduction because of the warning about reduced protection.
At notifications I have left only the (highly recommended) restart notifications enabled.

Anything other I can change to make EAM as silent as possible without reducing its protection?

Tried to install EAM, got multiple errors despite BD and WSA being uninstalled and AppGuard on install mode. Oh well. Every time I try Emsisoft I have issues.

A few more details would be helpful . What did the errors say for example and what OS did you try to install EAM on?

8.1.0.40 is amazing, the most stable version ever :thumb:

Besides the cpu spike when opening Internet Explorer and when updating, I really cant tell that I have EAM installed.

I can vouch that Emsisoft AntiMalware is indeed a fantastic product, originally grabbed it from Newegg (OEM Version) for $9.99. There was a limit of 5, I wished I had bought the limit, will soon have to renew. Unfortunately, it seems that Newegg doesn't carry the product any longer.

It's been great seeing Emsisoft's climb in the charts in recent months & was very happy to see it land on AV-Comparatives radar last year with a 100% rating on the 1st test! AV-Comparatives is my go-to for the latest rankings, hopefully will see Emsisoft with a Product of the Year award very soon.

For those who wishes to see how great Emsisoft is, go to their site & grab a 30 day trial, or the Emsisoft Emergency Kit, if there's any infections, they won't be hidden any longer.

Plus EAM is very light on system resources while doing it's job & when running s SSD is blazing fast in running it's scheduled System scans. There will be a few nags when first installed, otherwise unless new apps are installed, it does it's job w/out intrusion. Which any reputable security app should do.

Christian, keep up the outstanding work! I do all that I humanly can to spread the Emsisoft name.

    Cat
