I've just installed it, I'm not sure what to think of it.

I know that I hated it years ago because of the numerous of senseless alerts. I think it's slightly better now. :)

Question: How to mark all running processes as trusted?

Run a rating scan and trust everything that is unknown.

LOL, you're kidding me right? o_O

I think I spoke way too soon, I'm a true HIPS lover, but CIS is annoying the hell out of me. :D

Still way too many useless alerts. I think I'm going to uninstall quite soon. :gack:

    that's quite a contradiction

Normally you'll have 5-10 unknown files. Most of them for me were livecomm microsoft files or dll's. You can choose to trust them or you can dial down the HIPS by unchecking "set pop alerts to verbose mode" and changing HIPS to clean pc mode. Following Chiron's install guide is also a good way to configure CIS.

Well not really, it's all about user friendliness. Of course I'm still playing around with, but it's just too intrusive. :cautious:

It also freezed my PC when I launched StrokeIt, had to reboot. o_O

On the positive side, it doesn't seem to slow down the PC.

You should use Clean PC mode.

Well actually, it did help in reducing the popups, but personally I think there must be a handier way to do all of this. :)

Does that mean that you will only get to see alerts for any new apps that you install?

Well, I must say, it's getting less intrusive now. Also, it doesn't seem to interfere with my other security tools (EXE Radar Pro and Sandboxie). :thumb:

If my memory serves me right, you had been using two classical HIPS together in the past. In that case it must not be too intrusive for you!

Removed it. There is some page that never loads completely after I've done this (I need to manually stop press Esc or to stop reload to show the web page.) I've put back HTTPSB to block ads.

Those looking for an alternate (and smaller) CIS V7.0.313494.4115 installer – check out Softpedia > Antivirus category. Listed is Comodo Antivirus at 220MBs which I presume is the same as on Comodo's web site. Also listed is CIS Premium V7.0.313494.4115 at 85.5MBs (actually 99.6MBs on the download)

Out of curiousity, I downloaded and installed this on Windows 8 Pro and it seems to be missing only Dragon and Geekbuddy. As to why this installer is smaller that the other 220MB installers – following the installation – CIS asked to download the AV definitions – (which I terminated) - so I'm guessing that the absence of the AV database + Dragon + Geekbuddy is the reason.

Maybe some of the Comodo people can confirm.

No. The 200mb doesn't contain the definition

Actually no, you will get popups only for new apps that aren't whitelisted.

I see. Though this isn't particularly useful to block ads for two reasons:
    a) I'd prefer to import AdBlock lists instead
    b) It replaces ads with COMODO firewall notification which just replaces one thing with another, instead of just removing the ad and leave it at that.

The latest stated build number is 7.0.313494.4115, however after downloading, installing and then using the internal updater I wind up with 7.0.312140.4101 on both of my machines. Is anyone else seeing this? What the correct, current build number?

Thanks for confirming. Have you tried running the internal updater to see if updates are available?

I have cfw 7 rc, so far the internal updater says it is up to date, and doesn't see the Final version. On the Comodo forum they said it maybe a few days before it is ready to go if one chooses to get the new release that way.

I must say that even though I was quite negative yesterday, it's growing on me. :)
It's running quite stable and at the moment it seems to be the best HIPS on the market.

I think my main complaint was that it's too paranoid. I wish the developers could have fine tuned it a bit more. Of course with a few tricks it's possible to tame it, but still. On the other hand I also have to compliment Comodo, you can tell it has been developed by true enthusiasts. :thumb:

Believe me, System Safety Monitor and Neoava Guard, ain't got nothing on CIS, when it comes to being intrusive. :D

I think the major difference is that CIS watches for more stuff and is more aggressive.

    A couple of questions:

1 Where does CIS store all virtualized files? I don't see anything in C:\ProgramData\Shared Space.

2 When does it make sense to use ViruScope? Is it safe to use?

3 Is there a reason why CIS leaves Windows Firewall active on the system?
