BTW, Teredo should be disabled. I found a bug with the Parental Controls. Which SafeSearch on, often Adguard 'stalls' when you hit the second page of a Google search. The screen turns slightly pale, and the page never loads. Disabling Adguard fixes it, but also disabling safe-search fixes it. Something is causing a stall on parental controlled search engine results. To replicate enter a search topic, then try to switch pages by clicking the numbers at the bottom. Otherwise I am having good luck with Adguard 5.9 Beta. I cannot believe how far this product has come.. Happy days.
Start:CMD, then Ctrl-Shift-Enter to enter CMD as admin. Enter the commands; netsh int ipv6 isatap set state disabled netsh int ipv6 6to4 set state disabled netsh interface teredo set state disabled Go into network, device, then uncheck all but IPv4. Services.msc, then stop+disable IPHELPER service. Why? http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-v6ops-teredo-security-concerns-02 This analysis uncovered some security concerns associated with Teredo which are not documented in the Teredo specification. This document discloses these additional concerns and includes any recommendations where relevant. IPv6 traffic tunneled with Teredo will not receive the intended level of inspection or policy application by network-based security devices, unless the devices are specifically Teredo aware and capable. This reduces defense in depth and may cause security gaps. This applies to all network-located devices and to end-host based firewalls whose existing hooking mechanism(s) would not show them the IP packet stream after the Teredo client does decapsulation. IPv6 raises privacy concerns; Another oft-heard IPv6 concern is how it might be exploited for online behavioral tracking, as practiced by online advertisers who rely on cookies and sometimes quasi-legal, persistent tracking technologies. Given the relatively low level of IPv6 deployment so far, however, it's too soon to know the answer to that question. In fact, the same can be said for IPv6 and virtually any related privacy concern. "Much will depend upon how IPv6-enabled networks are ultimately designed and deployed," said Arbor's Cerveney. Not one bit, and in fact it shouldn't interfere with anything that I am aware of. We tend to make these changes over many dozens, perhaps hundreds of machines, and I haven't noted any negative aspects at this point. I have used Utorrent for years with these changes..
Would be nice if Adguard had options like Admuncher. Prevent page reloading, prevent change of focus window, and other things. I find those features very handy. Also the ability to globally disable music on web pages, and other things in AM are nice.
What are the other things you have unticked used for? why un-install them? I need link layer and file sharing if I share files through the network correct?
If you have a windows based network, you would want File/Print sharing, and Link active. QOS is generally handled by good, higher end routers (which I use) so I disable that, it's much better at the hardware level. You shouldn't need anything else.
I think you have to go on their forums and request beta access: http://forum.adguard.com/showthread.php?505-Adguard-5-beta-testing
It seems more stable, faster, and to have less hiccups. So I would say 5.9 is much better overall. Not to mention an effective, albiet work in progress parental control + forced safe search system which is pretty nice. They need to flag me for beta access on their forums so I can access bug tracker, and version information. I am seeing a new very every other day in the beta, it's being aggressively developed. After the Admuncher vaporware fiasco, I have a keen interest in seeing Adguard become a perfect replacement.
Guys, I'm gonna get a bonus license and I need 4 other users to install Adguard using one of the links below: Web site link: http://adguard.com/?c=742399 Download link: -http://download.adguard.com/c/742399/adguardInstaller.exe- P.S: u should download & install it using links above, otherwise it would be of no use for me. thnx Amin
I had been user of Admuncher though there had been upgrades since a long time. I had been using it satisfactorily till I switched to windows 8 and now 8.1. And I noticed it failed to block ads on messengers like Yahoo which it did effectively prior to Win8. So I tried the trial of Adguard reading good reviews. It did perform as an efficient ad blocker for browsers but still ads pops up in Yahoo messenger. Is is something that have to do with Win8. Memory usage is high, but that is not an issue on my machine with 32gigs of RAM. But I would like to know if I can block ads on messenger, before deciding to purchase a License.
Adguard takes major strides with each version. Currently in beta, I can tell you they've reduced disk I/O, and memory footprint, as well as reduced the CPU load on it. Also to me, it feels faster, and more efficient. I suppose it won't be long for beta 5.9 to hit public, so I'd really pick up a license if you want. Admuncher is vaporware now, since Microsoft dropped MSWSOCK32.DLL, Admuncher filters NOTHING within Windows 8X (Apps, IE, etc). It's really not an option for most people anymore.
Hello guys. Testing this adblocker in my PC and laptop. Have a look: http://malwaretips.com/threads/adblock-vs-adblock-plus-chrome.13671/page-4#post-170690 Sorry but i don't understand why with the Chrome extension enabled it works flawlessly and blocks all ads, and with the plugin disabled but installing the Adward Web Filter for complete solution it not blocks all ads....
Uh? I posted it above after trying on my computer. It works perfectly blocking ads on browsers but not on Yahoo messenger. Does that mean adguard will be blocking these messenger ads in future upgrades?
From your post I thought you were talking about Ad Muncher not Adguard. It wasn't clear what you were saying/asking about. In the future possibly yes: http://forum.adguard.com/showthread.php?1036-Browsers-gt-Applications
Nope I posted it in adguard topic after trying it, to see if it deal with ads better than admuncher. And why would you suggest Adguard over Adblock Plus (firefox plugin) if I am worried about ads in Firefox alone?
Adguard gives you several features all at the same time, while you need both 'Adblock' + 'Element Hiding Helper' and some other features to have a semi-experience of Adguard. Adguard doesn't need to be installed as an extension on firefox, hence it won't affect FF boot time. And besides, it covers all your installed browsers instead of just FF. I'm using maxthon browser and Adguard works like a charm on it. Amin
If you want to block ads only in Firefox then I wouldn't recommend Adguard. ABP is free and can block ads very well.
Several reasons. 1) More flexibility. 2) Safe Search features without plugins. 3) Better statistics and logging 4) Parental Controls 5) Faster. 6) Total platform adblocking (apps, all browsers, ports)
