Well it depends what you consider "light." I consider an antivirus to be light if the impact on the system is barely noticeable. This has got absolutely nothing to do with how much disk space or memory the AV uses, or how many features it has. It is actually dependent on how much CPU use and disk access there is. An antivirus which has only basic features may not be light.

and that why I've already wrote in the previous post.
If its not clear enough, I will write again.

in you situation (modern and capable pc perhaps) I will suggest again and again, just use panda internet security. it has all the feature you want and plus its using cloud technology. and you can have all the "advanced" setting that you dream of :D

That is not what you said - you said that if more features were added, it would not be light anymore

My laptop is several years old and prone to not running at its usual quick speed when I have AV software installed. However I am installing Panda Antivirus Pro now (I prefer to use an antivirus than an internet security suite so I can continue to use Windows firewall) to try it.

PAV comes packaged with a firewall. That is what makes it so "pro". :)

It's pretty clear what you said, but I'll stop here too.

In any case I've removed Panda now due its CPU use.

Yes I know it's a different product, my point was what "Cloud" said that it also comes with a firewall, as I saw that you wanted to use the Win firewall ;)

Panda Cloud AV Pro on the other hand comes with a "community firewall" wich might be a bit different than the one that comes with Panda AV Pro.

But if you want to use the Win firewall like you say then Panda Cloud AV Free might be the best choice out of all panda products. :)

I didn't take a look at the Cloud Antivirus Pro. I installed Panda Antivirus because I wrongly assumed that it would not have a firewall. In any case I've already move on to something else.

I understand the lack of features, but an advanced mode would be sweet if it came as set and forget out of the box.

I like playing with settings. Comodo, KIS, avast, eset, etc

Alright. :) I wonder when you will stay with an AV for a bit longer, it seems you're on a mission impossible case here looking for something that doesn't exist :D

I'm really liking UnThreat so far. But, time will tell ;)

I like trying out different antiviruses (and software in general) and as such don't mind regularly changing my AV. If I was going to stick with one AV it would be Roboscan because it is exceptionally light. I just wish they would release new versions more than just very occasionally.

I could not use this version at all on an XP machine. No widgets and none of the text is in English. I tried downloading from different sources and got the same result.

I have it on both a Win 7 and a XP desktop. Had a little trouble getting it to install on XP, ended up removing EMET to get it installed.

This is not a problem that is specific to Panda 2.9 BETA. The URL filter hasn't worked with Sandboxie in the last couple of Panda releases unless you modify Sandboxie's Direct IPC Access.

Can anyone who actually knows confirm this? It seems to me the Panda URL filter is just that; a URL checker checking against a blacklist; it doesn't actually scan the contenst of websites through the antivirus engine like Avast does. Does the actual Panda antivirus engine scan browser URL traffic for malacious content similar to how other browsers do it? If so, can the toolbar/URL filtering be uninstalled, because it's a bit of a resource hog.

    Thanks!
