Who recomend me a software for imaging/restore...

Hi,
on my system with Windows-7 64 Pro (SP1) are installed some programs for videoediting and compositing, and also the
Adobe Master collection CS6.
Now I need to make an disk image (for safety) and I'm very undecided for the imaging software to use.
In your opinion, who is the most secure and reliable software for 64bit systems, between Acronis TrueImage,
Macrium Reflect and Easeus Todo backup??
Anyone has tried to make some complete operations of imaging/restore?....The system has returned to work just as before?
I ask this because to decide which program is the best, you need to try and verify the restore, and use the restored
system for a long time.

 

I've used Acronis True Image on Windows 7 (64 and 32 bit) and Macrium Reflect on Windows 8.1 (64 bit). I restored Images with both applications (from boot CD) and had no problem whatsoever. I've never tried Easeus.

Many choices are available, some better than others certainly.

These are two that come to mind that offer reliability with simplicity in my opinion.

I would recommend Acronis True Image 2014 boot CD and Terabytes Image for Windows v2. These two have been my primary imagers for many years.

Very reliable for me. I restore systems every a few months on a regular basis over the years on different computers, so these two programs have been well tested by me, and I believe by many others in here also.

Of the two, Image for Windows is my first choice due to its reliability.

 

I would recommend the Aomei Backupper as the best free imaging program. I would also recommend using the built in imaging program that comes with Windows 7. It is slower and the images are larger but it has never failed me.

The Easus program has also worked reliably for me but I don't like its interface as much as that of the Aomei program.

Acronis TrueImage is certainly a great program, but some users say that the versions 2012 and 2013 work worse
than the old versions 2010/2011, because gives some issue......it's true?

However in my areas many people say that Macrium R. is the best free imaging software for 64bit systems ...
what do you think?

In conclusion I would like to choose one of these two programs, because are in the market from a very long time!

 

My experience with Acronis True Image was mixed. On the positive side, ATI is the fastest program I've ever used when creating a full backup. I also found it to be reliable (when the backup is created without errors). On the negative side, the installed program is very bloated, invasive and a bear to uninstall cleanly!

Macrium Reflect is very reliable, but the free version is too limited in features for my taste. As others have already indicated, I don't believe any free image-backup software can match AOMEI Backupper for features, reliability and ease-of-use.

I'd go with Aomei Backupper for hot backup or Clonezilla for cold backup, both work flawless

 

I've never used Aomei Backupper free. But, I have used EaseUS Todo Backup Free and it work really well.

I don't see the point in paying for True Image, when there is excellent free backup software. Also, I once had critical problem with True Image where it wouldn't restore an image due to there supposedly being an error in the image. There was no option to ignore error and continue the image restore.

I've used version 2011 on my Win7 system and have had no problems. I haven't use 2012/2013 version so can't advise you about them.

I can't find any fault with Macrium in terms of reliability.

I've used it 100s of times on XP,Vista and Win7 (32+64bit),I've never had a failed backup or restore yet.

-standalone application
-no Need to install anything
-reliable
-small GUI and easy to understand
-not bloated with unnecessary Features
-everything you Need to know explained on their Website

I think it's an excellent program

 

I'm currently using Easus ToDo free, as it's the only free imaging program(to my knowledge) to offer incremental imaging. I compared it to Macrium, Paragon, and Acronis, and it was the fastest of the bunch while maintaining the smallest image sizes. I set the programs for the highest speed and compression. I've restored two or three times so far and they have been painless.

 

What do you mean? You can't set it for both highest speed and compression at the same time. These two options are one or the other: you have highest speed at minimum or no compression; you have lowest speed at highest compression.

My experience with EaseUS Todo backup is that it's both slow and producing largest image file, as compared to Acronis, Image for Windows and Drive Snapshot. It might be reliable (I don't have much experience with it), but the speed and compression just not that great.

Wendi's comment (above) is relevant to your question as it is true of all Acronis TI installations, so imho the smartest way to use Acronis (for backup/restoring) is with their Recovery (Boot) Disk.

I meant the priority option. So Top priority and highest compression.

 

The general consensus is that TrueImage has become bloated and buggy in recent years. I've been using it since ver. 9 and have stopped buying the upgrades.

TI is very reliable at cold-imaging and cold-restoring. I've visited Acronis forums enough to distrust for doing hot-imaging and I definitely don't trust any of its added features.

In recent years I've noticed each major version releases (TI 2010, TI 2011, etc) are extremely buggy and then get more stable with each minor update. A running joke I often seen is that Acronis sees its paying customers as their primary beta testers.

Also, I stopped buying upgrades because I got really tired of waiting to Acronis to properly implement support for new hardware such as USB3, GPT disks & UEFI. I believe TI 2013 finally adequately supports all that.

I use Norton Ghost 15. A bit murky (not in a derogatory sense, by all means) but it works on Win 7 64 bit and on Win XP. Can recommend it. Just a bit complicated.

if you don't mind shelling some money then Image for Linux/Windows/DOS is the best i have used.

I totally agree..... in fact I've always preferred to create the "cold" disk images (backups) with the recovery (boot) CD/DVD for better safety,
but I don't know if Acronis TI allows to make this...
If this were possible, I would be very happy!

 

ZF, ACRONIS has always allowed the creation of BOOT media for use with COLD imaging... I don't think it's changed.
