If you run KIS in "trusted mode" there is no real value added in appguard.

    How confident? Especially since Kaspersky is funding/promoting a less anonymous internet, with the idea of a passkey system to access parts of it, entirely removing privacy. That's the least of my worries with KIS;

I'd probably have switched to running Kaspersky long ago if it weren't for information like that presented in that article. If there's a counter-argument or reason not to take those issues seriously I'd like to hear it, but so far I haven't seen it.

DoctorPC, a straight question, no argument intended, what does that map mean about LastPass?

Those are the approximate locations of the offices of the two major password products in the world. Just for reference. Locations are probably bit off, but you get the idea.

That map is more then a little bit off. Lastpass is at least 45 mins away. It makes it look like it's right down the road. Are you implying there in cahoots? (lol that word)

    Love the word cahoots.. LMAO!

Not implying it really. But curious. One popular VPN provider was in the same building as the CIA, rented spaces to be sure but... :cautious:

I tend to avoid companies in that general vicinity, with the assumption it's sort of a red-zone. Like Kaspersky can see the FSB's head office, and Kremlin. You know? I'm probably too picky, but I feel better when my password company is in Vancouver, not stones through from a CIA listening station.. *puppy* It's pretty easy to develop a bit too cozy of a relationship with 'friendly' agents taking you out to lunch once a month. (not saying that happened, just stating)

    in cahoots?

Or maybe just outside cahoots(going by the map).

Just installed BitDefender Free and Sandboxie on my daughters computer so that should be that for the forseeable future ?

Plus MBAM on demand of course.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware was installed on-demand only, going to run it real-time for a while, see how it does.

I find your entire premise far-fetched.
Proximity to a target has very little to do with covert activity.
When humans sitting in office chairs can stick a Predator or Reaper missile in some bad guy's ear from thousands of miles away, it makes very little sense to think there is greater danger in being physically close.

Pretty much what I was thinking. On the net, proximity has little to do with privacy affiliations. In 2014, Kaspersky's privacy stance has little to do with the product. We're being sold out on a massive and global scale.

Let's stick with the thread topic and leave the politics and FUD out of this thread.

    Thanks, je.
Is VoodooShield one of those programs that you keep coming back to?
And did you get the CyberGhost probs ironed out?

I'm about to install Norton AntiVirus 2014, as I've heard good things about it.

It's been over 5 years since I last tried Norton AntiVirus and think it's time I tried it again even though I was far from impressed back then. My experience with Norton products is that they cause noticeable slow downs - I hope this is not the case for me.

Yes, VS seems to have earned a place in the regular rotation.

For some reason the CyberGhost problems cleared up on their own, it's been working smoothly for a while now.
