An hour? I've uninstalled many AVs in 10 minutes or less after installing them :D

It only takes me seconds to see if an antivirus has all the features I want. If it doesn't, I waste no time in uninstalling it.

    Just WSA here as well.

Also using CCleaner, Lastpass, Eraser & Dropbox (also Bitdefender on Android), so that just about covers all the extra features in WSA Complete

It costs nothing to use trial versions. It's been a year since I've purchased any security software.

Very true, I guess most have trial versions but not all?

And I suppose most people would get an opinion of most software before the trial version has expired.

Or you could be Securon, a retired millionaire sitting in his cabin on Lake of the Woods!!

I think it is very rare for security software not to have a trial version.

That should be plenty of time to decide if you like the antivirus and see if it has any major impact on system performance or is causing crashes or BSODs.

The only issue is if the trial version does not remove any found threats, and once you pay to register you find out that it is unable to remove everything that it found.

Hahahaha i dont know how some members never get bored of it. :D
After i got out of high school i had less spare time to tinker/try out new things. Miss those times, life was all about enjoying it, going out etc.

guest, I did exactly the same thing on my test PC! I am very surprised by how light it is. My WSA license still has 14 months on it so it will stay on the other PC's around the house. Has never let me down yet.

Personally, I scoop up extended trial versions that companies throw around during the holiday season and give them a spin on my test PC. As roger_m stated, and I completely agree, I can tell pretty fast if a particular AV makes the cut or not. Say 20 minutes with a few reboots thrown into the mix.

Now, I do admit at one time to being a bit of a, shall we say "promiscuous" AV buyer and tester. Before I was introduced to WSA I would buy all kinds of security software with the disposable income I had back then. It was a tawdry scene around my apartment. Picking up cheap AV's by the dozen and spending all night installing and uninstalling them over and over again. Disks laying scattered all over the living room and bedroom, used once and never again like an old dishrag because I wanted all of them, but I just couldn't commit to any of them. Of course that's all different now that I've settled down with one AV. It's been three very happy years now with WSA. Oh sure, she is a bit different from the other AV's. Not always coming right out and letting me know if there was a problem, but that's just her way. Once I got to know how she works it's been a little slice of heaven ever since. :D

I test for 3 months on windows seven 64:

    look and stop (locked)
    AppGuard (locked down)
novirusthanks(lockdown mode extreme, stealth mode enable, password)

No antivirus So excelente reactivity computer...

I Blocked regedit, mmc, msconfig with a pass word on novirus EXE radar pro, AppGuard monitors all applications at risk and look and stop to the own rules

I think I'll definitely keep this configuration.

    bye

You are right about KeePass not being as convenient. But I started having some problems with LastPass with the version that came out a couple of months ago. Also KeePass feels more secure to me, for what that's worth. But I go back and forth, and haven't really decided yet.

Good Morning! Now that I'm officially a Retiree...it allows me a couple of minutes...to reflect on my state of Security. As far as being a Millionaire living in Splendor in my cabin on The Lake Of The Woods...I'm a Penny Pinching Canadian with Scottish Bloodline that is a firm exponent of practicing the Art Of Frugality...in very modest surroundings in a small Northern Ontario Mining Community. The Security Software Market is a Commodity...and as such it's definitely a Buyer's Market at the moment. But as Digmor Crusher knows being a Fellow Canadian our Canadian Dollar...has this year taken a hit on the Downward Trend as compared to this time last year. So as such I still have Kaspersky I.S.2014 and EAM...and WSA Security Plus...and Avira I.S.2014...all purchased from the Download Crew American Site or on Special Offers given to Wilders Members. So this year I'm in Lock Down Mode financially...no big deal since I have more than enough in my App Arsenal. And as such can still stir community interest in what seems to be my weekly Security App juggling. Lol! Sincerely...Securon

Back to KIS. Patch e is excellent. Any reason I need to run appguard along side it?

Good Morning! Austerity! I had AppGuard running in tandem with KIS 2014...merely as another layer. But I would feel completely confident in running KIS...as a solitary app...especially with the newly introduced patch. Sincerely...Securon

I feel good about it too. But I did pay for appguard. I've got active licenses for:
    WSA
    AppGuard
    Bitdefender TS
    Malwarebytes Pro
    Sandboxie
    Winpatrol
    EAM
    Shadow Defender
    NOD32

    (oh and KIS)

Starting to sound like you :D

I'd rather run with just AppGuard then.

This guy from southern Ontario knows all about your community. He says that there is a town in north Ontario where dreams comfort memory to spare and the yellow moon on the rise can be seen with the big birds flying across the sky. Wow. You live in a beautiful place Securon, enjoy your retirement.

By the way, I am still waiting to see you try. use Sandboxie. And read what you got to say about.:)
