Childish, narrow minded and your selfishness leads you to pirating. You are the reason we have DRM and developers/companies are struggling to pay the bills. You obviously do not work for any "firm". This attitude is not acceptable in any professional environment and it is frowned upon. If you do not like price this dose not justify steeling or pirating. Simply do not use said product and move on.

If it's not slowing your computer down, causing adverse behavior, or annoying you with too many false alarms I would just leave it on. As Pegr stated, a BB should be an extension of your AV. I don't see any reason for a BB to be a separate application on its own anymore. It should just be integrated into any AV as an optional feature that can be turned on, or off.

Do you also have a problem with paying traditional Antivirus subscriptions? If so then what is the difference? You have to also realize that they have to pay their employees, and overhead. Product development, and support does not come cheap. If they don't generate enough revenue they go out of business.

These days paying for an AV is optional. But if I want to pay, I can usually cover my entire home for under a 10 spot. But that's entirely optional as well, given the fine free solutions out there.

$150.00 for Appguard to cover my home PC's? Unfortunately that just kills their sales, and doesn't help them grow in the long run. It's money lost. I refused to buy Diskeeper for almost a decade until they offered family licenses starting a few weeks back, and now I have purchased several of those.. A single home-user Appguard license should activate on 3 PC's IMO, 1 is way too restrictive. But that's my opinion - but I don't see anyone rushing to pay $150.00 for it..

From your comments, it seems that you think it's "bad business" and "bananas" for Blueridge to sell AppGuard for $25. But you'd like a family deal for 3 computers for the same price as 1 computer is now. What you'd be happy paying isn't much different in price over the 3 year life of a version (a difference of about $.46 a month per computer) as the price it is now that you are complaining about, especially for someone with the income of a "Systems Engineer, Security Specialist". Sorry, I'm just not seeing your case, especially after you bragged here about pirating software from a company you were similarly unhappy with.

edit: From the posts below, it appears I was wrong here, and that DoctorPC had a legitimate issue about pricing. Blue Ridge has responded quickly to adjust pricing.

I'd be happy to pay an 'upcharge' for a family pack, or some sort of tiering structure. $25 for 1 PC, $35 for 3, or whatever. Or something like Sphere from Bit Defender. I really need to cover 6 machines here, but I cannot justify $149 on an 'accessory' product, especially given my already secure architecture here.

That's really all I am saying - they should offer some family packs, or special deals. I'd be happy to pay extra for them, but not $150 extra! My income isn't really relevant to this conversation. We all still have bills to pay, I just have bigger bills. It's all relative, and frugality has few barriers. I'm practical with money.

Intersting, it looks like they DID sell 3 license bundles. The price has become too restrictive at this time IMO. The old pricing made more sense. $60 for 6 licenses? I'd buy them within the next few minutes. $150 = No.

BTW, the price for 4.0 will be going up to $29.95 for 3 licenses - please don't shoot the messenger!

Thanks pegr, I like having additional things to consider. And after considering them, along with what Cutting_Edgetech said, some adjustment in my layers is probably necessary. Downloads are getting scanned before being taken out of the sandbox, but then AppGuard is turned off if the file is an installer. That's a moment of vulnerability I've overlooked, and have now covered for by turning on Emsisoft's Behavior Blocker and File Guard. On further considering, I might try other ways to protect the computer when installing. The final set-up has not been attained yet, but is certainly close.;)

Thanks for the good advice jmonge. Also good because for some reason I always had an affection for Mamutu.

I've forwarded your concerns about the new pricing to the decision makers at Blue Ridge. I'll let you know their reaction.

Actually for license issues, please send an email to AppGuard@BlueRidge.com. I am no longer the license person. You'll get a faster response for license issues if you send to the AppGuard email address. I'm sorry if I overlooked any emails about the licensing. The AppGuard emails go to my inbox as well, but anything about licensing I assume our customer service people are handling. I guess I didn't notice that the email was directed only to me.

For license issues, please email AppGuard@BlueRidge.com. I usually answer the technical issues only, but I don't do the licensing. I should have forwarded the email to customer service, but I had assumed that the email had gone to AppGuard@BlueRidge.com as well. Sorry for the oversight.

    Hi Barb C,
Just noticed the pricing structure has been changed to only one license, as this is now the case i feel to make a purchase worthwhile a lifetime license with updates should be available only because you no longer offer 3 computers license, for this i would pay more as at the end of the day value for money counts.

Please pass this on to upper management as it's the main reason i am holding off from purchasing, I'm sure selling a hell of a lot more of the software for a higher price with a lifetime license outweighs, selling less of the software at it's current price, because I'm sure blueridge want to keep it's customers happy or risk losing them to competitors, that offer what you don't.

    Thanks :)

    Great company so far.

Upper management responded already, offering a very nice bulk license purchase option for me which I immediately accepted, and purchased a half dozen licenses to start the ball rolling. This level of support ensures I will continue to do business with Blueridge. It's just fantastic.

    Thanks Barb!

There definitely needs to be a sliding scale of volume discounts for purchasing multiple licenses IMHO. The more licenses purchased, the lower should be the unit price of each license. Whilst the current price for a single license is not unreasonable, it is starting to look expensive if 3 or more PCs are to be covered.

This is good to hear and I hope that some kind of multi-licensing deal will be offered as standard on the website. I've always found BRN to be very responsive to customer feedback.

From my communication with upper management, it appears a sliding license scale is in the works - and it sounds like something coming fairly soon. I assume you mean something like .. 1 license, 2 license(10% off), 3 license (25% off) or whatever right? I believe target price for the home is usually no higher than $50(or so) for products/services/support. Much higher, and many more people drop off from potential customers to null. At least that's what I have found working with marketing folks at several software firms. Once you get into the hundo, most software buyers balk.

I think this is probably why most consumer-level software is around $50 to cover a household. Enterprise is an entirely different ball of wax obviously, and where companies make their real money. But companies need to realize a lot of enterprise customers are gained through the aggregate marketing/WoM of the home user. How many of us take home experiences into the shop to our purchasing departments or clients? A lot.

Anyway, looks like they want to work up some tiered price structure.

    Yes, that's what I meant.
I agree. There should be an upper limit to cover a household IMHO.
    Again, good news.

You're welcome. We do want to keep you all happy!

I saw Maureen's response to you and I was going to pass on the good news, but I see that you already have.

So everyone, please be patient. We'll offer affordable prices that can cover a family's computers soon. In the mean time if you have a special bulk request, please email AppGuard@BlueRidge.com.

I'm not handling the licenses any more (as jmonge learned the hard way). His request got lost in my inbox because I assumed that the email was addressed to the appguard@blueridge.com email as well (I'm copied on those) and because our customer operations group has been usually very quick to respond to license requests, I generally ignore license related emails. So special apologies to jmonge. We'll get this straight.

And, as I sit here typing this I see that Maureen sent an email already notifying jmonge that we increased his licenses (I just forwarded his request minutes ago). So they are definitely on top of things in that department!

It seems I was wrong, and there really was an issue with pricing. Sorry DoctorPC for what now turns out to be 'shooting the messenger'.

I agree. I believe they should offer license bundles instead of having to pay $25 for each license if the customer is ordering 3, or more. The more license you order the lower amount one should pay for each license. Its a pretty common practice. I see BRN already hooked you up. I misunderstood what you was saying before. My bad!
