Please lets not turn this into a pro vs con about Comodo. Further posts will be removed.

ROFL. Not really, just you know what will happen.

    Thank god for the Moderators!
What useless nonsense bringing in Comodo to this thread.

i knew for CTM; it is one of their major failure; i meant more about CIS than CTM.

anyway using (on a production machine) a beta of something playing with the MBR is already a hazardous move ^^; luckily AXTM doesn't do this.

installed latest beta release of AXTM over v.37; all went fine

Admittedly at this point I'm honestly confused! Is the latest beta an attempt to repair the USB mouse failure during restores of for something else? Relative to that, I started thinking about something. Perhaps reporting issues to the AX developers should be including: SSD or HD for both operating system and storage drive; backs up via USB 2 or 3, SATA 3 or 6; Motheboard and this last one may be crazy but the CPU. So no wonder it would take so long to hunt down and repair these issues!
For what it's worth, my hot restores keyboard and mouse issue was resolved months ago by delayed service start for Malwarebytes (I'm still using v1.3.0.7) after Peter (I think) suggested anti-malware apps). Also, for what it's worth, my present issue is the cold restore GUI is perfect and the USB ports have power, as the illuminated key board is lights using either port but neither the kb or mouse function.
I also must comment that I'm perfectly happy even without the cold option available.

It was for something else. We are working at the moment on the USB mouse failure. I'm agree with you that sometimes we need more information to be able to reproduce the issue. Anyway we try to reproduce the issue with provided details and if we fail then ask directly the person who reported the issue.

Are we any closer to support for multi-partition disks?

Yes, Vitaly has taken my XP USB Mouse info from DEVCON and said he was going to have a fix in a few days. I guess it is taking a while longer, but they are looking at it.

P.S. My Mount stopped working as well. When I do a mount XP says it assigned a letter and does a reboot!

Anybody knows what to do with the message "Cannot enumerate images" by AXTMApp? It appeared when I wanted to delete my manual snaps.

I was deleting some old snaps, and after a few successful deletes, then the message appeared for each of the remaining snaps that I wanted to delete.

I don't have storage space problem, so this inability to delete isn't really concerning, as long as it doesn't affect imaging & restoring.

I am concerned that AX64 may fragment while solving issues for different op. sys. etc. By that I mean...
If b36 works for a user on the latest Windows (8.1) and the mouse and keyboard work and restoring from CD etc. works, then when an outstanding cure for another system is produced in a newer beta, is there a danger that it will break the already working systems?

If so then either a vicious circle will be created or everybody will end up on different versions, at the point of their own satisfaction.

Is this the case or does the software test for op sys or anything else?
Is it proclaimed that any future beta will not break working setups?

    Hi Norman,

The work is in progress. I can't say when it will complete.

    Hi MPSAN,

Could you please explain what you mean by "stopped working". Did it worked before? in which version? it works with the old version now?

    Thank you for answers,
    Iurie

    Hi mxyzptlk,

It is a bug. I've reproduced it. It doesn't affect imaging & restoring.

    Thank you!

    Hi enonod,

It can break the process of creation rescue media only. The future beta and exiting ones don't break working setups. We do the internal testing and sometimes don't cover all possibilities.

    Best Regards,
    Iurie

You know I am going to be a bit of a naysayer here for the AX64 developers.

I think adding multi partition support may be a mistake. I know it's the most asked for, and I think the number was roughly 50 people. BUT, can you survive selling to those 50 people.

Who is the market for AX64. My guess would be folks who barely know what imaging is and probably don't have a clue what a partition is. By adding partitioning support you significantly complicate things, and also complicate and need more support.

THINK Market before randomly adding features.

I agree. I thought the most functional AX64 versions for this group of users were the early AX64 versions.

    I couldn't disagree more...

"Folks who barely know what imaging is" would not spend any money on a separate imaging software. They would just use the Windows built-in tools (which are not too bad these days IMO), and if disaster strikes, they would call people like me to get their computer running again. :D

Software like AX64 is for people who know how important their data and their Windows configurations are, and who are willing to spend a reasonable amount of their time, energy and money to protect these data. People like me...

Before AX64 was there I used a conventional imaging software (an older version of True Image) plus Rollback 9.1. Acronis was there for security, it could backup all the 5 partitions I have, and I never felt the need for an additional file based backup software because Acronis is quite good at restoring individual files and folders. Rollback was there for speed, I could safely play around with new software, edit registry entries, try different codec configurations, whatever. And I could always revert back to an earlier configuration very quickly.

When AX64 came into play, I was really thrilled. I thought that it had the potential to completely replace my previous backup software by giving me security and speed at the same time. Even if it was a lot slower than Rollback, it was still extremely fast compared to Acronis. But I soon realized that for a complete protection I had to use a separate backup software for my other partitions.

Basically for me it came down to 2 alternatives:
    1. AX64 plus a separate backup software for the other partitions.
    2. A conventional imaging software (Acronis or AOMEI) plus a snapshot software like Rollback, SysRestore or Toolwiz Time Machine.

Right now I am using the second alternative, mainly because the fast snapshot capabilities are so important to me. The future plans for AX64 will make hot restores even slower (I would not call it Hot any more, lukewarm describes it better). I might reconsider my decision in the future when (or if) AX64 supports multiple partitions, but not right now.

    Just my 2 cents...

    Cheers

I found the problem! I have all manual Backups and there are 29 of them. If I go to the first 5, at least, I can Mount the Backup. If I try the 29th it reboots my system. So, how many can I keep before I can not mount the Backup?
Also, in no case should AX reboot my system!!

I mentioned previously that a few notebooks (that I know) come with more than 1 partition (and by this, I'm not talking about hidden ones). The factory reset procedure also makes more than 1 partition as a default.
Someone else said that notebooks that he knows only have 1 partition, so I'm just saying that there are notebooks that have more than 1.

People who "don't have a clue what a partition is" wouldn't know whether he/she has more than 1 partition, so it's good if a good software (such as AX64) can give a thorough protection.
Then those people will feel that they have sort of "stages-factory-reset" :)
Moreover, the tagline could be "complete protection" instead of "only 1 partition protection."

There are also some (wanna be) computer experts who advocate the use of system-and-data-partition, so maybe there are more people who have at least 2 partitions, yet don't actually aware of it.

By "complicate," was it for the users or the developers?
It won't be complicated for users if the UI just show a big button "backup everything" and likewise "restore everything." (Of course, there should be another tiny little button which allow us Wilderses to customize it) :D

For the developers, I don't know how complicated it is, but many (maybe even most) image/backup softwares in the market support multiple partitions, so I imagine these exceptionally talented programmers would be able to handle it

    Add.:
Notebooks with SSD+HDD become more common nowadays. Now, this could be interesting to support :p

    Thanks for your response.

Glad  that it's a bug. Please squash it ASAP, before it's germinating.

I just want to say that I disagree with Pete on this one. My old Sony computer that I got in 2001 that I still use today came with 2 partition. 2 of my old laptops from 2005 and 2007 came with 2 partitions. My newest laptop that I bought in 2011 came with 3 partitions. My dad's newest laptop he got 2 years ago also came with 3 partitions. My mom's newest refurbished desktop is the only one that came with 1 partition. My family desktop from 2007 came with 2 partition. My friend's family also have many computers and they all have multiple partitions when they bought it. Heck, even the computers at my school all have multiple partitions.

These computers came from Dell, hp, Sony, and Fujitsu. They are computers you buy at the local retail store and online through Dell.

So if the market you're aiming for is the people who don't know what a partition is, like Pete had said, then clearly they would want total protection as in all partitions are covered. They don't want any surprises when they expect AX64 to restore their computer to the previous state only to find that some important stuff that they saved onto a different partition. Basically you don't want these people who bought your software to run back to you and complaining that it did not do what they thought it was supposed to do.
