First instagram and now whatsapp? Facebook is like a disease and its so damn hard to avoid it. I can't wait till they go bankrupt like myspace.

I use fb with a fake and i do not use whatsapp.
I imagine a near future when they will connect all phone numbers with fb profiles.. for deeper profiling.

    Good luck competing with Google.
It would be hard to imagine someone nixing Google's messenger for this as Google's email, address book, and text messenger are to integrated together on an Android phone and PC.
To me, this looks like a Microsoft move (don't invent, copy, be late to the party, and be second or third best at it).

FB is loosing users that are starting to use other services. Buying out competitors is one way to get those users back :)

But it will only work for so long. Sooner or later Facebook is gonna end up like Myspace.

They will just serve NSL to the new guy around the block.

The rich can laugh all the way to the bank, while the world is becoming enslaved. The NSA must be very pleased.

So they pay more than they had revenue last year. This economic period I think will be remember as the Great Debt.

Ill keep rocking Whatsapp, its the most used IM app here where i live, basically everyone with a smartphone has it installed and to be honest its the lightest and fastest of all the IM apps i've tried. (Not that many)
So i have no problems as long as it stays as it is . . . fast, light and problem free.

    Agreed. They are a plague.

I have a FB account, but it's fake. I use it to harvest coupons, and other deals, and it is linked to a dummy email account, and connected to via VPN. All of that, and I still get constant friend requests by people with terrorist sounding names. Nothing but an intelligence gathering tool masked as a friendly/helpful service.

I always tell people, almost everything in America is weaponized. Your processed food, your water, the skies above you. Your social networks are no exception. Always go into things with the assumption they are weaponized, and you are better off. Anyone that doesn't believe everything isn't weaponized isn't paying attention...

I know many people here in my country that wanna "move on" because of the Facebook acquisition, they said Viper will be a better option.

It seems that Facebook isnt "cool" anymore and people are rejecting it strongly.

I think this is getting ridiculous, why would you pay 19 billions for a company like Whatsapp? It's simply outrageous. o_O

Mark Zuckerberg is now officially an idiot. Yes I know, a very rich one. :doubt:

Wow, got to love this story. ;)
