Whats making my win 8.1 cpu speed up and resource hogging?

Hi:

Anyone here with knowledge of win 8.1 can tell me what process or what in win 8.1 would make the pc usage to go way up and the fan to go to over-drive when windows is idle?

I noticed when I am not using my pc after a short while the fan speeds up and the noise can be heard and anvir taskmanager bar shows very high 100% cpu usage. As soon as I try to check and move or touch the mouse to see hat causing it, everything goes back-down to normal.

So I can not see what is causing the issue. I was wondering if there is away for me without touching the mouse and just by watching to see what is causing the cpu usage to go way up and stopping it?

I read the post in here and also online about MSE 4 issue causing this and I have disabled the MSE/windows defender in 8.1 and also did the mention tweaking, but the issue of speedup is still there.

I appreciate your help on this matter. This issue only happens when windows is idle. I have recently cleaned the fan and the pc and the heat-sinks from dust.

 

Well I put anvir processes and behold a variety of windows task began to run in the idle mode after a while. I saw net framework optimizations, wmi performance and several others. They kept going and new tasks started after each other. The pc fan went to overdrive.

So is there a way to know which windows 8.1 task are required and which are not and safe to disable. In task scheduler windows I saw many many windows and MS programs that have either idle or multi running schedule and some with repeating schedule.

If anyone can tell me or give me a site or something that will tell me which tasks are safe to disable and this may help my issue.

Here are the tasks scheduled to run that I think maybe related to my issue and might ran when idle. Can anyone with knowledge of win 8.1 tell me please which I can disable safely.

When IDLE:
-optimize start menu cache files
-Idle maintenance

Multiple:
-process memory diagnostic
-network state change task
-maintenance configurator
-rac task
-user task
-TPM maintenance
-system task
-space agent task
-Remote assistant task
-Queue reporting

 

I have deleted almost all of those tasks and no problems, but I use 3rd party defragmenter and a memory optimizer (Cleanmem).
Deleted, because disabled re-enabled them self. You should try disabling them at first and let it run for a few days, then delete.

It probably is Superfetch. If u have many apps installed it causes high cpu and very high disk usage for several minutes after each reboot.
It could be windows search, indexing and windows error reporting too.
I turned those things off and now i have a "silent" pc and no side effects as long as u dont need those things.

I have had this problem with Windows 8.1 as well. Windows 8 did not do it. I have tried 4 different security suites so it is none of them... If I open Task Manager or Process Explorer it stops and I can't see what it was. It is really annoying and I have not yet determined what it is. Whatever it is it runs the entire time the computer is idle, every time. If it is Windows services I would like to know why 7 or 8 didn't do it.

 

yeah I know what you mean. MS really screwed up in 8.1. I wished I did not updated to 8.1.

 

Thanks for the replys guys. I went through tweaking win 8.1 from sites I found and also used several utilities but what ever its doing this is stubborn. I will try to disable those scheduled tasks and see what happens.

 

Agreed. I disable all of these.

Also, 8.1 has a wonderful task manager, that will tell you everything about your processes, including overall system impact. No need for a third party tool with 8.1's task manager. You should be able to quickly find the offending program.

Sound great, but when you move the mouse the background tasks stop so the offending program (or service or whatever) disappears from the list. Something would need to be run that logs the activity, and I have not had time to do such a thing. Task Manager on its own has not been helpful in this situation.
