New beta working great for me, no boot menu errors, hot and cold restore working ok. A couple of search errors in event viewer which I managed to sort with out problems.

    Here is my new issue.

---I just installed 1.4.1.36 (W7 32 bit). All my backups are on NAS drives. Now I can't access any of them. AXTM starts up initializing network (takes a while), then I go to map network drive and every attempt comes back "network name not found". It doesn't matter if I use the server name or it's IP address.

    Guess I have a RealProblem.

ps. Why doesn't the recovery process let me browse my network and select a server/share?

ppss. I'll ask it a different way ... does AXTM support accessing backups made to NAS drives (for recovery) -?- because I can't get to any of my backups.

pppsss. I noticed recovery looks at Network (WORKGROUP) - is that all it looks at? I don't ever use the name WORKGROUP for my LAN workgroup.

    Running Windows 7 Ultimate.

No mouse or keyboard (USB) using rescue disk (CD or Flash Drive) created with AXTM build 1.4.1.24 and the latest build 1.4.1.36.

However, using builds 1.4.0.18 and 1.4.0.19 rescue disk (CD and Flash Drive) I have access to both the mouse and keyboard (USB) and it loads very fast.

I've been unable to make a successful restore from within Windows (freeze) using either 1.4.1.24 or 1.4.1.36.

On the other hand, I have made numerous restores from within Windows using build 1.4.0.18 and 1.4.0.19 without a problem (restore at least once a day)

It seems a hit and miss with AXTM rescue disks, some builds work and some don't.

In the meantime I have reverted back to 1.4.0.19 the build that works, at least for me.

Great news, Waj. Multi-partition is very important on my system as I have 3 data drives in addition to my OS drive and I would like to back them all up.

Questions: If I have AX64 doing automatic hourly backups on both my laptop and desktop, and both backing up to the same external hard drive...
    1. Is that too much a load on the external drive in terms of two backups happening at once? Conflict potential?
    2. If so, can a feature be developed that allows for setting the time of the automatic hourly backups so that we can stagger the hourly backups?
    3. And once multi-partition is available, it staggering would seem to be an imperative otherwise I'd have 5 drives backing up hourly. Yes? No?
And yes, I recognize I could use more than one external drive and route the backups "staggered by location".

    Your thoughts on this?

Where is the link to the latest version, guys?
Wouldn't it be better to post it at the start of the thread?

I wish to purchase a single copy of AX64TM ($39.95) but cannot get past the order page in order to proceed to checkout.

You might want to go back to the AX64 webpage and go to the upper left and click on "Feedback & Support".

I reported this problem earlier to them earluier this AM. My gut feel is they don't have a CC site set up to do this transaction, just through PayPal.

They need to get this fixed.

    Recovery CD from different computer

Had to let you know about this. While I was restoring my laptop with AX64, I got a BSOD in Win 8. Subsequently I could not even get into the BIOS or Safe Mode. Unfortunately, I had not yet created a Recovery Disk. To my surprise, the AX64 Recovery Disk I had created with another PC, a desktop, worked and let me restore my system just like there had been no problem! What a great application!:thumb:

    Hi speed bump!

Glad you were able to restore your PC. Although BSOD shoudlnt occur, the recovery disc is always there as a fall back method in case restores in Windows fail. Sorry you had to go through a scare like that.

Ensure you are running the later versions of AX64 as Win 8.1 was known to cause BSOD on older versions.

I have send you an email regarding our other versions.

Thanks again for your praise and good day to you!

Yes, thank you. Apparently your Paypal button does not show up in IE7. I had to dig up an old Firefox.

    Hi Grumpa,

You need to map your NAS drive as a local drive for AXTM to access it.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Thank you for the reply - but - that is what I can't seem to do ... I can't map the NAS as a local drive. All I get is "network name not found". AXTM already uses the mapped drive to the NAS to do backups - and - AXTM has no problem doing a restore from within Windows (hot, I guess). But when I boot with the recovery USB stick (or CD) and use Backup Browser, I cannot map anything on my LAN. If I open Explorer ++ >> Go >> I see Network (WORKGROUP) >> Select that, and I get nothing. This is why I asked if it is looking for the PC to be in WORKGROUP only.

I was able to map my NAS drive as a local drive z, but was unable to open it or any of my hard drives except the drive/folder containg ax64 backups. The open other backup option did not work and none of my drives are listed but it works ok in the explorer window.

I assume this is NOT XP. I have been working with Vitaly and sent him data from DEVCON in order to help with the USB mouse issue in XP.

It doesn't work with Windows 7 64-bit either.

Thats quite a broad and very definitive statement. I would suggest that you not make blanket statements. I can tell you that while it may not work for you on your system that on my Win 7 64 bit system it works just fine.

The worst you can say is that it does not work on some systems,,, in fact, given the number of Wilders folks using AX64 and the relatively few issues that these folks bring to our notice here, I would suggest that AX64 works just fine in a great many more cases than it fails.

As for it working on XP, I have AX64 installed on an older PC which is running XP and I have not EVER had a problem doing restores, either hot or cold, on it. Froggie and others have said that its working on their XP systems and many others, myself included, have no problem on more current systems.

OH, by the way, the statements I have made regarding AX64 and my systems applies to version 13.0.7 and previous. I have not installed any of the 14 series and so cannot speak to them.

In my case I have NEVER said it did not work in XP. I only said that the Recovery CD that I make will not see my USB mouse and if I do a Cold Restore I plug in a spare PS/2 mouse instead.

I did the same thing with Win7x64, and build 36 is working for me.
