I'm looking for a fast and light Free Antivirus to use on an old slow PC with Windows XP. MSE is out of question as the XP version of it not are about to receive more definition-updates for much longer.
As for now I'm trying out Baidu Free AV on an other, faster pc which is said to be a light AV.
I've already had a go with Bitdefender Free edition but was turned off by the lack of options in it. Just such a ridiculous thing that that one has to scan every fkn partion. Can't just choose a single one.

What other antivirus should I have a look at?

360 internet security is light. Also panda cloud or bit defender free both are good.

The lightest, best AV, as resident / realtime, for an old x32bit PC is none at all.

    Yep.

    Use defenswall

It will replace your Firewall and your AV.

No other real time application is really needed.

Then do a manual scan, from time to time, with Emsisoft Emergency Kit Scanner; MBAM free; or HMP.

The lightest of them all is certainly Webroot.

And if you google you will easily find extended trials (3/6 months) of Webroot.

Webroot is not free but it would be the lightest. After that Bitdefender Free edition. I got it set up on several old computers, I gotten rid of Avast for other reasons. I don't want to compare it here because it's against the rules.

I recommend Roboscan as it is exceptionally light.

I just got a 9 year old laptop running XP back to it's original condition. It has 1GB RAM and a Pentium 3 CPU. I installed Avast free AV on it and it runs fine. ;)
