Like it very much, for replacing the Avast installation I use as on-demand scanner.

Love its speed, detection ratio with Bitdefender engine, and native x64 support.
Unfortunatelly, if I disable all shields, then restarting, they are again activated, so it is not a valid option at least for me.

The problem happens in both 4.9 and 5.0 beta, have reported it to support, but no news yet.

If you disable proactive protection and couple it with BitDefender TrafficLight or some other kind of anti-phishing extestion.

I would install MSE for this type of user. It's what I installed for my 70+yr old parents. Install it and forget it.

I would have to disagree. MSE is pretty close to having no security software installed. Qihoo will be equally silent if no malware is imported into the computer; but if it is, it will actually prevent infections (unlike MSE).

Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition is the best for the users who dont know much about security, effective protection & no maintenance.

Until you can't open the logs button... then you know you are screwed. That was last time I used it. And by the way, try to avoid 'best', we all know there's no 'best antivirus'.

Logs button issue with Bitdefender Free has been fixed and is no longer a problem - at least it's been working fine on my laptop the last 3 months.

Just because it works on your computer doesn't mean it's going to work on everybody else's. A lot of people are still having trouble with it.

From my experience the latest version is very stable.
I had the logs button prob once only & a system restart solved the prob.
So I dont know what causes the logs button prob but it is quite stable now & if rarely occurs then system restart solves the prob.

Only I dont know if there are quarantined files & logs button probs occurs & system restart solves the prob, quarantined files will remain intact or disappear, hope they will remain intact.

But are you talking about Qihoo 360 Internet Security as the thread title, or about Bitdefender Free?

This AV is a true set-'n-forget. I have it on my mom's PC and considering she's always afraid of popups or warnings, I still have to hear something from her about Qihoo.

Every time a user logs on to Win7 (even an Admin), a UAC prompt continually asks permission for 360sd.exe to autorun/start. Has anyone else encountered this annoying bug?

    Thx

The UAC control is a stupid feature and after the disabling animations is the second thing that I do in a new windows operating system. :D

No thanks. This is just bad advice. The 360 devs need to fix this issue.

It refuses to work for me in a LUA and admin account with fast user switching on XP.

Yup. At least on Win7 LUA standard accounts get the UAC prompt, but need to know the admin password, or else 360 IS fails to load. The on-screen message indicates you are not protected if the elevated prompt is canceled.

On another note, 360 IS has many chatty executables. IIRC - 360sd.exe, 360rp.exe, 360rps.exe, dep.exe, calc.exe all phone home to Amazon servers in Singapore. Network sniffs showed communications over port 80 with the messages appearing encrypted.
