Isso, did you get them to support 32 bit XP Pro again? Now I see there is also a 1.4.1.24 as well.

It appears your BIOS is set to either "legacy" or secure boot feature is turned off. Please check if this is the case.
A 64 bit Windows PE 4 or 5 recovery media supports UEFI + secure boot in your BIOS, so peter might be right, they are using a 32bit version of PE or RE.
Also I don't think YUMI can make a boot USB that support UEFI/Secure boot.

    regards,

I know that Secure Boot is Enabled (I checked that while making taking the pictures) but I don't know about legacy mode, I'll check that.

And you might be right that YUMI doesn't support UEFI/Secure Boot.

Edit: Is this it? http://i.imgur.com/R23JFCo.jpg (there is a bit of a glare there but it says "UEFI and Legacy OPROM") Perhaps that's a feature specific to my motherboard and not something that all UEFI bios motherboards have? In that case I can see the issue.

I installed 1.4.1.23, but now it's gone from the site. Replaced by 1.4.1.24?
No change to the official version yet though.

    Thanks for the clarification.
I think I know what is going on with your setup now... It's because of the CSM being set as "Enabled". Basically if being enabled, it will allow you boot a legacy OS (32bit OS/PE/RE, and 64bit OS/PE/RE before windows 8 ) with UEFI/Secure boot enabled.

    "Compatibility Support Module (CSM)

The UEFI boot manager is able to load legacy BIOS environment using the Compatibility Support Module (CSM). This module is able to emulate legacy BIOS environment and allow booting legacy operating systems or new operating systems which were installed without UEFI boot loader."

    https://communities.intel.com/community/vproexpert/blog/2013/08/11/understanding-amt-uefi-bios-and-secure-boot-relationships

the MSI mother board I have does not have such feature. If secure boot is enabled, legacy OS could not boot on my computer so I think it's a ASUS thing.

On the UEFI bios interesting. My bios doesn't offer a legacy option, so that is probably the difference.

You are right, different motherboard manufacturers offer different UEFI features. I actually prefer the ones without an CSM option since you have no chance to mess up the OS when backup/restore the system.

I just installed 1.4.1.24 over top of last version. Two questions. Are my old restore points still good or do I need to create new ones? I use the local storage option to boot. do I need to redo this again or is it still good from last version? Thanks.

OK, I will try 1.4.1.24 to be sure it works with a recovery disk. I know Isso wanted that to be reinstated.

I installed 1.4.1.23 this afternoon, and 5 hours later .23 is deleted and .24 has replaced it.Is there a reason for me to update to .24 or should I just wait for the release?

    Hi Uffbros :)

As far as I am aware, as long as you installed or updated over top the current installation, the AXtracking file should remain intact, and your previous restore points from the older version should still work fine.

Had you uninstalled the older version and installed a newer version, then you would have to begin with new initial full backup, then incrementals, etc., because the manner in which AX64 tracks volume changes would have been removed, and the record lost.

So installing over top should keep previous backups valid.

    Hope that helps! :)

How about the local boot. Will that also be good if I installed over top? Thanks.

OK, the new one will allow me to create a recovery CD. However, an XP mount issue (while in XP) that Isso fixed in ver 1145, is back. If I try to mount it says it did mount and then reboots my XP system. Do you know what broke?

    Hi Uffbros :)

The local boot menu option I am not sure of. You can try that and then test to see if the item is listed in the boot menu, then boot into it to see if it works properly if I am following your question properly.

I have not yet tried the local boot option so maybe someone who has can assist you with that.

Have a good evening sir :)

    Win 8.1 64b: AX64 1.4.1.24: UEFI
    Installed over version .19 successfully.

Created Recovery CD successfully (but very slow)
    Tried booting from Recovery Media...
    Secure boot off, Legacy enabled...
    Secure boot on, legacy disabled...
in both cases booting from non legacy did not boot, simply cycled "press any key to boot from CD" with several minutes delay between each.
The key press 'was' detected from the wireless keyboard.
Have not restored from within Windows yet but expect it to work OK as before.

Same problem on my system with latest beta as before, boot menu error when trying to run from local media (ssd drive). The local media boot entry created with version 1.3.0.7 still worked but I did not try to cold boot from a image created with the latest beta. Restored back to version 1.3.0.7 from within windows with no problem.

I didn't even bother making a recovery CD from .24. So I have a question for everyone.

The latest recovery CD I can use is 1.3.0.7. Will it work with .24. Then again is there any advantage to .24 over 1.3.07.

Hi Pete! To my knowledge, almost all the changes in v1.4.1.24 have dealt with W8/8.1 issues and media creation associated with that, hopefully Isso or AXdev will publish something useful to reference.

The only thing you might miss out on by using the v1.3.0.7 RECOVERY MEDIA would be any newer drivers that you might have added to your system since the media was created. As far as function is concerned on a particular system, the v1.3.0.7 recovery media will work fine (if it did before) with v1.4.1.24 producing your incremental images. Unless there's some tidbits we haven't heard about yet from Team Isso, that's my best reading of the current BETA release and recovery media.

All my 1.307 RE's were made on the systems I am using them on, so I should be okay. Only question at this point will be which version I install. The local storage is not an option as it and Instant Recovery, produce nasty results.

    thanks Froggie

Peter, have you tried to do a MOUNT on your XP system with the new versions? Mine says it mounts and then reboots XP!
