They still haven't fixed file submission which is kinda lame. Like 5 months now and nothing has been fixed and even gets carried from stable version into this beta which is very annoying.

On the other note, they at least made the interface usable now. Former basic one was full of clutter and wasn't useful at all. But now it is and they haven't made much changes. Nice example how little is needed to turn something almost unbearable into something very good.

The rest is pretty much the same as v6 with additional Web Filter settings and Virscope which i have no clue how effective is at the moment. But since it's a behavior blocker (real one this time) i'm sure it will do well.

It'll be a very difficult deciding between avast! and CIS now, i just wish they'd change the attitude towards reported bugs and actually getting them fixed. And chill down the hardcore fanboys on their forums a bit. It's really the only thing that's bad about Comodo in my eyes, as they certainly have good ideas and CIS turned into effective anti-malware app...

I think if they fix the submission and Viruscope pans out to work in autosandbox and actually removes changes, I'd be hard pressed not to want it. The web filtering I could care less about. Like you said once they fix all those issues then it would be a pretty powerful suite.

I wouldn't say Web filtering is useless. They do have malware and phishing databases within that and it's not so useless if you ask me. avast! has shown many times how URL blocking can prevent malware. And so did many other AV's. Comodo is really one of few which has none of that. They tried with their DNS which was frankly rubbish and hardly ever blocked anything. I hope Web filter will be more effective.

Also Viruscope is suppose to revert back the changes. Not sure how it will do with file infectors, but it should work fairly well with everything else. Threatfire and Kaspersky have shown many times that it can be done and that it works really well.

Btw, installed it on Win8.1 64bit and no problems with it. Installed problem free and is running fine now.

Like the new UI and it,s really functional now.

However I do hate the same v6 GUI of pop up alerts. Wish they could change it too.

BTW it seems buggy as hell on VirtualBox. Not sure why they released such a crude beta.

What kind of problems are you seeing with VirtualBox? I'm running the firewall in XP using VirtualBox and haven't had any obvious problems so far.

Wasn't HIPS off by default in the last version?

Anyway, it seem turning off HIPS, and enabling auto-sandbox uses less cpu/disk than the default settings.

Yeah I agree. I actually don't think the Web filtering is useless, for me it is because I use K9 webfilter.
I was just thinking of Threatfire this morning when I was looking over the beta and how it works. I'm hoping that the put a slider/option to change the sensitivity like threatfire. Would be a nice option to have.

I think HIPS was on by default...Chiron always suggested turning it off if you followed his set up.

HIPS is off by default (Internet Security Configuration)
If you change to Proactive Security Configuration the HIPS is on (a restart is needed)
Auto-Sandbox is on in either of the 3 configs (the other being Firewall configuration)

I'm giving this V7 a spin (full CIS) and I find it as light and stable as V6
The changes to the UI are wonderful

Thanks for the HIPS info...that explains it. I agree...new version runs well here on Win 7.

For me, installing just the FW, HIPS were on by default, and sandbox off. I had to manually flip them.

It's possible to have Viruscope without installing the AV component?

Comodo Firewall has D+, thus has VC.

Yes, you'll have Viruscope with Defense+
and Website Filtering with the FW

It'll be great if someone creates custom blocklists in the manner of Peerguardian or MDL.

Disabled AV but it is still detecting malware while I was testing HIPS. Also changing modes from tray icon and home screen doesn,t work.

Since D+ and FW can't be separated it doesn't really matter what comes with what because you'll always get FW with D+ and Viruscope.

That's probably the cloud scan, it's independant of the AV

For sometime now I have wondered if just using the FW w/ cloud scan negates the need to install the full CIS package. I wonder if tested, how much better CIS does than CFW. I have found Comodo runs much lighter without the AV.
