Assuming my host OS has a good inbound protection. Do I need an inbound FW for a guest OS inside VM?

I would say that if your VMs are set up to use NAT network (default) then no. You should still get popups from the host FW.

I set mine up as bridged, so would install a FW in the guest if I feel it's needed.
