I never liked the name Skydrive. I always thought it was a bit weird and unprofessional. One drive is more like it.
Still, it doesn't affect me in any way as I don't use any of their services.

An opinion is an opinion, but how in the world does OneDrive make more sense than SkyDrive? SkyDrive is a drive in the sky or cloud. It sounds completely sensible. OneDrive..what exactly is that supposed to mean? It sounds more like a "We don't have a clue what to call the thing now, we didn't expect this" moment.

OneDrive is probably to use the same branding as 'Xbox One', and I figure they think its cheaper to rebrand the service than try and win the lawsuit.

It's more ominous from a privacy standpoint. It says "this is your one drive. Put all your files here so we can see what you're doing."

Well, no, it really isn't. They were able to and probably doing that before the name change. No cloud service is nor ever will be "safe". As soon as your files are handed over to someone else for protection, they have lowered protection.

Did they get rid of their legal department in a cost-cutting measure or something? :D It would have been far funnier had they already changed it to OneDrive officially. Here, let me help them out:

    1. Microsoft Cloud

    2. Windows Cloud

    3. NETDrive

    4. MS Cloud

There, I gave them a start. If they pick any of them, I'm sending them to this post and collecting my money :D

If there are already a few businesses using the name OneDrive, why haven't they sued each other? I think Microsoft may be okay this time since there appear to be several uses of OneDrive already in existence.

In the case of Sky, I think it was more to do with a big multi-national company, BSkyB, wading in to get what they believed to be theirs against another large organisation.

I like OneDrive better than Skydrive. I think MS is gonna get away with the name as stated by TonyW
