When i was using windows 7 i used wordview to use windows DOC files etc.I could create a curriculum vitae in wordview and send this via email to several companies.

I was wondering how i can achieve this in linux mint.
    Any suggestions please.?

    Thanks.

Linux Mint comes with LibreOffice, try that. Or something online like Google Docs. Then there's Kingsoft Office. If all else fails, install Microsoft Office in Wine.

I used Libre Office to create and edit my resume. Then I converted it to .DOC format without any problems.

I believe you can also save as PDF which completely bypasses any display issues the person you're sending to might have.

If you have the need to work in MS Word, you can always sign up for a Microsoft Skydrive account and use the build-in Microsoft Word Web App.
Guaranteed MS Word layout and structure, it's a somewhat limited Word version but often sufficient.
