if i have the 5 lic complete would one of those lic's work for the android version to get the premium features? also ive read in many places that people said the webroot android eats the battery faster than most others. any thoughts from anyone using it or joe?

im not yet convinced the android av's do that much (any of them) but my wife insists i put something on there. im thinking webroot as my first choice.

My buddy uses it on his phone and battery seems fine. They all cause battery drain imho except for Avast and BitDefender. Most of them cause wakelocks causing the device to not sleep and thus drain the battery faster. I don't run any av on my phone any more but give it a shot and let us know.

Yes but you would have to download the Complete Android App then Password Manager and Back Up & Sync along with the Webroot SecureWeb Browser all in one package: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webroot.security.complete&hl=en

    HTH,

    TH

EDIT: I use it on my Android Tablet and it uses low resources and doesn't seam to affect the Battery life.

    From me:
I figure there are no Android things that work really, really well, just because of the limits of the OS. However something is better than nothing.

    From Kit:
The number one cause of battery use from the Android app was task killers automatically killing the Webroot app, which then of course would restart... and get killed... and restart... and get killed...

OT...there's a free app called WakeLock Detector which is worth installing for figuring out battery drain problems.

I had the problem TechFox mentions regarding Webroot mobile being killed.. I had that fixed within a few minutes though so I don't know how much of a drain on the battery the constant start/stop/start/stop cycle would be.

I figured what good is it having it installed if I don't allow it to run in the first place? Simply go into the settings of your task killer and set WSA to be ignored.

The battery drain was not all that bad and the app worked quite well for me.

The biggest problems people have with it seems to be simply making sure that they are using the correct download, and that the profile being used to log in is tied to a currently active key code.

Can someone explain "WakeLock" to me?

I recently installed "Wakelock Detector-Save Battery" on my Samsung Note 10.1. After running it for just a couple days, it is reporting that WSA Mobile has the highest number of wakelocks and this accounts for over 42 minutes on my tablet?! In addition, it's had 342 "wakeup triggers". (This is the second highest number of triggers; second only to Samsung Push Service at 544.)

I am assuming that based upon this information that WSA is a rather significant drain on my tablet's battery and I'm wondering if I need to find a different mobile AV?!

My understanding is a wakelock is an event/task that brings the device out of sleep mode. There are screen, cpu and kernel wakelocks. What I mostly go by is the percentage of time my phone is in deep sleep. At the moment my wakelock app says the phone has been awake 10% of the time over all. In my experience that's fine. It's only when a process goes haywire and prevents the device from entering sleep mode that the battery really suffers. I'm using Avast Mobile at the moment so can't say if what you're seeing with WSA is normal or not - Prevx_help may be able to comment.

I believe Techfox's post is correct: if something is saying that Webroot is using too much battery life, it is likely that it is attempting to kill/restart it too frequently. I suggest writing into our support inbox or onto the Community where there is more Android support as they may be able to help better. WSA Mobile should take up virtually no battery life but if it is constantly terminated/restarted, it could cause unnecessary drain.
