You can just install over the top, no reboot required (even if it asks you to). Thanks again!

1.30 Working well and about the Shield movement I always uncheck it and move it to the top Center of the screen. I don't like down by the clock as that is where WSA notifications are if you come across a bad file. Just IMHO

    Hi VS

New version installed like a breeze and is running well. Not noticing any difference when compared to previous version...which I suppose is a good thing. ;)

I had the Opera browser still open while updating VS.

I noticed that the browser became sluggish, closing and opening tabs was very slow.

Even when VS was installed it took about 5 minutes for tray icon to reappear.

So, I decided to close Opera and reboot.

The system hung for about 10 minutes at the 'windows is shutting down' before continuing, and finally 'the computer post' screen came up and it started to boot.

Then , I noticed after starting Process Explorer, that 'interrupt CPU' was not normal.

Also, after opening Opera. I noticed that some of the recently visited sites history had disappeared.

I tried System Restore in XP, which was successful.

Is this the computer that cannot install .net properly? If so, I can put the 1.30 files in a folder and send it to you so that you can just copy them to the c:\Program Files\VoodooShield directory, to get 1.30 up and running.

Yes, it is. We did exchange PMs in October, if you recall. But, I don't remember whether it was about .net.

Installed 1.30 over existing with no problems. No initial problems here, running smoothly. Downloaded and tried to execute a program (VS Always on mode) and it was blocked. Resource usage is similar to 1.27

Thank you for letting me know! Hmmm, I wonder if there is a fix for the conflict with WSA notifications and the VS desktop shield gadget? ;)

Edit: WSA and VS really is a phenomenal combo! Thank you TH for discovering this, and for letting other people know!

Thank you everyone for letting me know that it is working great! Rajesh is almost finished with the service for 2.0. It is taking a little more time than I had hoped, but he is doing a truly amazing job. I would try to finish it up myself, but I do not want to mess anything up! He will be back Monday, and will finish soon.

BTW, the Mac OSX version of VS is almost ready too. We have been working on that for about a year now. We submitted it to the Apple App Store a couple of weeks ago, and they only requested 2 changes. I will be submitting that tomorrow, so it should be ready in a week or so. The project went well, although it is not quite as refined as the PC version, but it will be with time.

Thanks again everyone for all of your help!

I saw Anchorman 2 tonight and according to Ron Burgundy, the only thing to ever be afraid of is Voodoo ;). BTW, I did not think it was that good of a movie.

I installed the new build about 4 hours ago. Its working fine so far. The only thing I have noticed is there is a considerable delay after the desktop loads for VS to load. VS loads about 15-20 seconds after all my other security applications have loaded. If I untick Synchronize and Backup my Whitelist Snapshot to the Cloud will that make VS load faster? I don't really have any use to backup my whitelist to the cloud since anytime I reinstall VS it creates a new whitelist instead of using the backup in the cloud. I'm not sure what functional purpose the backup in the cloud can serve if it creates a new one each time VS is reinstalled.

Yes, it should load faster if that option is not checked, that is one of the major things that slows VS down on start up. The main reason you would want to backup the whitelist to the cloud is so that you do not have to retrain VS if your computer happens to crash, but now that it trains a lot quicker than it did a couple of years ago, that feature is not as important as it once was.

The synchronize and backup whitelist to the cloud feature works great for businesses who want to build a whitelist on one computer, then transfer the whitelist to all of their other computers, so they do not have to train all of the computers on their network. They can simply log in to their account on voodooshield.com and transfer the whitelist to all of the other computers.

We might want to disable this feature by default, what do you guys think? Thank you!

I'm not sure you should disable it by default, but i'm going to try VS without that option enabled tomorrow. I'm going to leave it alone for tonight in case it causes some unforeseen problem. Maybe that has something to do with why VS eventually always ends up blocking critical services, and other processes on my machine. I'm on a wireless connection, and my internet is not very dependable at time.

Sounds good, thank you. If you figure anything out, please let me know. As far as VS blocking critical processes, that will most likely be fixed in VS 2.0. VS really should not be blocking any critical process, so I would be curious why it is doing that on your machine. As far as I know, there have not been any other reports of this. Have you had a chance to try a different computer, running all of the same security software, to see if you can reproduce the error?

    Hi Dan

Thanks for the update. All seems to be fine here running on Win 8.1 fully updated.

I have mentioned this before but the white list is a bit of mess. Just checked and I have 13 computers listed for the same machine. This is due probably because I regularly restore the system image, update and re-install VS again. Each time a new computer white list is created. I have never seen an option to download the existing one. So for my part it may as well be dispensed with. Has the advantage of erasing any errors that may have crept in.

Hi David, sounds great, thank you for letting me know. Yes, we will have to figure out a way to resolve the issue of multiple machines in the web interface. We have to do some work on the web interface for 2.0, so we can check it out and see what we can come up with. Thank you!

    Hi VS

    Interesting discussion point. :D

What about having an option to update manually and if that is checked it (i) adds a button in Settings and/or (ii) an option in the right click system tray icon context menu, that the user can press to initiate a manual update of the Cloud listing.

Either way I would leave the automatic Cloud update option set to 'Yes' as a default...it is safer that way, but perhaps make it clearer that it will have an impact on VS startup times if active.

Just a couple of thoughts for consideration?

    Regards

Yes, that would be cool. We have been meaning to add a button in settings to backup and restore the whitelist to the local machine, so we maybe we should add buttons for a cloud backup and restore in this windows as well! The right click menu option might say "Backup" and it would bring up the Backup tab in Settings. Thank you for the suggestion!
