Always do custom install for everything these days. Bloatware is the biggest problem I deal with when working on PC's. They wonder why their PC is slow, and why their PC is crashing. I consider some of the bloatware out there to be down right malicious spyware when looking at it's behavior. It's hard to teach responsible computing to most users when they don't worry about the problem until it occurs. I'm not saying that is the case with the user that started this thread, but I believe we all know that is usually the case for the average user. I use Imgburn as my primary ISO application, and yes you have to be careful when installing it. I guess they have to get funding for it's development somehow. I would have a different opinion on it if it was a security application though. I think if one wants to be a reputable security authority then they should not be serving the things that they should be protecting users from.

Sucks to see a once great app go downhill, but it's happening all the time these days. That's why when I find a great version of a good app I hang onto the installer. I don't update things other than my OS and browser unless there's a serious bug/vulnerability in it that a newer version addresses. And with things that don't face the net, why bother too? And especially since I'm still on XP as most updates apply to Win7/8 now anyhow.

I still use version 2.3.2.0 of ImgBurn. It's the best one ever, back when you could still burn bootable disks with it too. I remember finding it on some site that showed you how to slipstream OS updates into a disc. It recommended it to use to burn it and said how the versions since didn't work as well.

I downloaded from the developers site, chose Custom Install, unchecked the extra crap and still got OpenCandy PUPs.

    Not cool!

    Not cool, yes !

But the how-to on this page would have probably been of help (before the Imgburn's install, at least)
