Does that surprise you. Businesses aren't exactly rushing to WIndows 8. Most are on 7 so that's where the emphasis will be.

Has anyone noticed that on the Sandboxie forum, tzuk is still relplying to a few problems but not to the gamers who are having problems with 8 and 8.1

If you count this one recent post, http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=17757, then yes he is still present in some capacity. Scouring through the front page I only saw one other bumped up discussion from 2009. And one poster was right, the lack of any Invincea presence whatsoever on the forum is a bit concerning.

  3. A bit or a big concern. No presence after take over and stepping back of Tzuk is weird, I have some experience in take-over's and mergers and this typically looks like the "silence, I kill you or apologize" scenario, meaning

Look at the fuzz/forum activity and depending on buzz you either step in afterwards and apologize for the silence (sorry we were buzzy setting up our support organization) or let it die a silent dead (when no buzz / internet mob of sandboxie fans cries out loud).

So I would advise the sandboxie fans to unite and make some noise

There'll be no noise-making from me. Tzuk sold his property, and the page has been turned. Hopefully someone holds the door for him on his way out. Adios, amigo.

First for all we know there may be an agreement that they don't step in before Tzuk leaves. Doesn't make sense to me, but who knows.

Second, "unite and make some noise" What could that possibly accomplish? Most of the users have lifetime licenses, so they represent no more revenue. That gives them the clout, of a limp stalk of celery.

The absolutely only thing we can do is wait and see. Period

As far as I know, Tzuk has left. And no, that kind of agreement doesn't make much sense to me either. Great point on the lifetime license holders.

    On Dec 17th, Tzuk said:

"In about six weeks, I will depart from Sandboxie. By that time, Invincea will introduce itself to this community, and will be able to maintain continuity with Sandboxie. There may be some changes, but please rest assured that there is little cause for concern."

I would think Tzuk would announce his "final" departure on the Sandboxie forum and have
some departing comments. Hopefully more info on the Invincea acquisition of Sandboxie.

I don't belong to any social media so that wouldn't work for me.

I'm beginning to be a little concerned about the lack of presence from Invincea. What are they doing? Can't be so hard to just drop by and say "Hi" atleast.

What we are experiencing is TEOSAWKI.
The End Of Sandboxie As We Knew It.
Part of that apparently includes not dropping by to say hi at least. ;)

SurfCanister seems rather interesting. It has some features that secure certain folders during browsing. It's a little quicker opening browsers than sandboxie and it's almost as light. It had 2 process that run around 2-3k each. It also has 4 levels of security, strict being the highest.

I would not attach so much importance to their silence. Up to now it is still Tzuk's forum. Maybe they simply wait until Tzuk says his official farewell. That would be a logical act of courtesy.

There is a thread on alternatives to Sandboxie. Please keep this kind of discussion there.

    Thanks,

    Pete

There's a new mod for the announcements forum section, Alan@Invincea registered on the 13th of Jan. http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=20531
So I'd guess having a little more patience wouldn't hurt. :)

From post Tzuk on the 17th december: In about six weeks, I will depart from Sandboxie.

    Source: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=97094#97094).

The 17th of december plus 6 six weeks means the end of january.

From website Invincea: The Sandboxie acquisition makes great sense for Invincea and for Sandboxie users. First, Sandboxie is a great product that individuals can download for free and get immediate protection on their own machines – it has been and will remain this way.

First post of Alan@Invicea on Sandboxieforum:

    Thanks Ronen and hello everyone!

I am very happy to be able to contribute to this community and to this excellent product. At Invincea, we treasure this product and are very proud of the acquisition. We all look forward to improving Sandboxie over time and providing the type of security we all need to keep us safe.

I am the head of Engineering at Invincea. Myself along with some members of my team will be monitoring the forums to help answer questions and resolve issues. I will introduce some of my team members as they come into the forums.

Bo, you and I agree on many things and of course, disagree on some too.

I read the above quote from Curt and see the operative word "forseeable". To me that is a big qualifier. Obviously no one can ever say that something is forever, but Curt could have just as easily said, "our plans are to maintain Sandboxie as a separate, standalone application as it is now", and not added the "foreseeable future" part.

If someone were to ask Curt how far out the forseeable future extends, I bet he wouldn't nail that down for you, not in days, months or years... which ultimately reads as, "We're not sure about the future of Sandboxie".

You, on the other hand, read the part about "separate, standalone application" and feel encouraged ("sounds fantastic").

I remain skeptical, my friend Bo. Curt sounds purposefully vague to me. ;)

@Page42 I agree. That is what stuck out to me also, quote, "the foreseeable future". However I do admire Bo's positive outlook view, looking at the glass as being "half full" as opposed to the "half empty" analogy.:thumb:
I try to have a positive attitude but as I am getting on in age I do also have a skeptic side that is ever vigil.....so with that.... for the time being I will also keep a positive attitude, for now and; to show solidarity with fellow "Sandboxie-ers", I've even changed my avatar. :D
