Agnitum Outpost 9 switching HIPS off

I would like to use Agntum Outpost Security Suite 9 just as a firewall and Antivirus so is it possible to stop HIPS without comprimisuing the firewall and AV.
The main reason is that I want minimal popus as sometimes if I install a piece of software I may get 10 or more popups, which drives me crazy. I assume this is caused by HIPS. I don't install `questionable' software i.e. pirated.
I'm not very computer literate in the HIPS and security area.
If I can stop HIPS, how do I do it under (I assume)'Settings' or do I have the wrong approach - Thanks

 

You may want to put it in the learning mode if you are installing programs you trust. After installation you can take it out of learning mode. Just my two sense worth/

Anti-leak [HIPS] is one of the nice features OP has and one of the reasons it's so secure. Auto-learn does take care of the popups but shouldn't be used for long as it will create rules automatically all the time. In actual fact since if you don't want popups then Windows firewall is a good choice but it's best to learn how to handle the dialog with the firewall. It certainly makes one learn a lot about your PC.

While I love Outpost , the HIPS is ridiculous . You would think Agnitum would get on top of this and allow certain programs to install without asking for constant permissions and submitting the file because they have no clue what it is .

 

Just put it into learning mode while you install a new program.
Thats what i do or even suspend protection if any requests annoy you just for the duration of an installation.

 

I find that even in Learn mode I can get up to 9 or 10 popup boxes when doing an install and unfortunately I download and install a lot of software - especasilly giveaway stuff - I guess I should stop !!

I tend to install a fair amount of stuff myself.

Use disable/suspend for an hour then there will be no popups at all.

 

I do the same myself. When I download giveaway software I do it from a trusted source, such as Giveaway of the Day, and then scan it. If clean then I disable OP protection until the install is done. I just don't see the point in making rules for installers that only get used a single time.
