I keep the ID Shield and Phishing Shield off to keep my computer running fast. When one or both are on it gets real slow in the background and surfing.

I would reinstall and do a few scans and contact the support inbox like Joe said above so they can send you there wsalogs utility to gather more detailed logs! Webroot Customer Service

    Thanks,

    Daniel ;)

I deleted the message. Here it is: Disabling the Identity Shield is not a good idea since it is part of the Webroot strategy. If a keylogger gets on your computer, there would be no protection before Webroot had a chance to roll back the infection. I deleted the message because I saw Dragon1952 has Zemana Antilogger on his computer which should notify him/her of the keylogger.

I would also be curious if disabling the web filtering extensions corrects your slowdown after reinstalling. If this is the case, I think we should have enough to go on to start investigating closer across both reports.

    Thanks!

My computer has been slow for a few hours and i already had these 2 shields off so i turned them back on and turned the Web Shield off. The background and web surfing was a lot better after that..

I have not reinstalled WSA yet, I'll run without it over the holidays.
I'll reinstall in the new year, if I experience the old issues I'll raise a ticket then.
    Must be careful 'till then:rolleyes:

I can confirm a reproducible performance issue on Firefox specifically related to the new filtering extension.

When a page is loading and data is flowing, the browser seems to be effectively "locked". Can't interact with anything. Can't close tabs, can't open new ones, can't click links until the page is fully rendered and finished.

Issue exists when the new filtering addon is enabled and does not exist when it is disabled.

I am currently working with support testing the slowdown caused by the Identity Shield.

I have all shields enabled except the filtering firefox addon and I don't experience any delays. I exit webroot completely and got the same response from firefox. I doubt you need this "Webroot filtering extension", especially if you use a browser with browser specific, way better security addons, developed for years with thousands contributions from users.

Are you seeing it caused by the Identity Shield or the browser extensions? They are two completely distinct areas of the product.

Our web filtering is considerably stronger than the in-built filtering in browsers and analyzes page content in realtime to determine phishing attacks.

More than likely it's WSA's web-filtering that's at the root of this problem. :doubt:

I am seeing it with the Identity Shield. When I turn off the Identity Shield (browser Web Shield add-on still enabled), I don't have a problem. The Identity Shield application protection for iexplore.exe is set to Protected.

Hi, I was meaning firefox addons (e.g. adblock, noscript, request policy etc), not the browser's default built in filtering.

I got this new web filter recently, and since I don't use any browser other than Opera, I don't see any difference subsequently, with this web filter. What am I not getting?

I recently installed Windows 8.1 x64, installed WRSA again a few days ago. I'm getting intermittent lag in Chrome. Web filter extension is disabled, it appears the identity\phishing shield is the cause, but it's intermittent so I can't say for sure.

All i use in WSA is the Realtime Shield and the Firewall. Everything else slows me down or i dont want or need it. I don't need the Extensions so don't know if they would slow me down or not.

It's the Browser Filtering Extension that slows things down for me. See my previous post here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2316380&postcount=3

The extension has been updated to 1.0.0.21 since then but the problem remains. It doesn't happen on every website, but happens often enough to be annoying.

Others have posted load and navigation times shown under "Manage add-ons" in IE to show no problems. My times reported by IE are not particularly excessive either, but I don't feel they accurately reflect the delays that do occur.

Since the 24th I have run without any AV for 1 day, then I chickened out.
I installed 'standard' AV for 1 day without any issues.
Then I installed a 'Cloud' AV for 1 day, then another 'Cloud' AV.
    None together, I should add:D

    No issues at all.

I hope there is something underway somewhere or other:D
    I will reinstall WSA soonish.

I, too, noticed intermittent lag on Chrome (Win 7 64-bit), but didn't give it any thought until I read this thread and realized that others were having similar issues.

So, what I did was to uninstall Webroot and reinstall Kaspersky Internet Security 2014. Doing so corrected the the internet lag issue. For two days now, I have not encountered one website that causes Chrome to stall/lag.

So, I can conclude with confidence that Webroot was the cause of intermittent lag on Chrome.
