    Hi Flora,

You should. It goes well with Macrium Reflect and it compliments Macrium Reflect.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Hi Acadia,

It will be available as boot menu item on boot in the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) Store. Basically, no need for Recovery Media like USB/DVD/CD unless needed in emergencies.

Remember, EasyBCD instructions I posted for you to have AX64 available as boot menu during boot, now you don't need it. AX64 takes care of itself.

If you have Windows 8 or less, then install it as see what happens during boot.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Hi Isso,

Tried the Recovery Environment on a second machine with Windows 8.1 and it doesn't boot either on the second machine too.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Hi Baldrick,

Do you use Windows 8.1? And, if yes, can you please check and see the Recovery Media boots for you.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Seasons Greetings Mohamed (and by that I mean that of goodwill to all men (and women))

No, I currently use Windows 7 64bit, so cannot help out on that one.

Will certainly be hoping to try the traditional restores, i.e., cold by CD & hot, bit will also see if I can use the cold by local environment, as well...but may not be able to report back until later today.

    Peace be with you

Ok, really puzzled here. I installed the latest beta version but I do not see any kind of "pre-boot" or "whatever you call it" option. Am I supposed to do something special during reboot to see the local restore?

Another bug found in new beta (and this is the VERY first time that AXTM has messed with me). Whenever I do a hot restore, upon reboot my Online Armor is in "banking" mode; I have NEVER used banking mode in OA. This happens even if I completely kill OA before the hot restore.

Between not seeing the "pre-boot" option (if that is what is supposed to happen) and this "banking mode" bug I am going to return to 1.3.7 but excited for the future of AXTM.

Click Create Recovery Media then you should see an option for Local Storage (or whatever it's called). Once done, upon reboot you should get a boot menu with options for Windows and AX64. Works fine here on Win 7 x64.

    Hi Acadia,

It is not "pre-boot" option but rather "boot menu" option. It is under the "Create Recovery Media". And, under this you have "Local Storage" and beneath the "Local Storage" you have install. Simply press install and it will install the Recovery Media on "boot menu" during boot.

    See attached image.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Hmmmmm, interesting stuff here. I used version 1.4.0.18 to return me to 1.3.0.7: worked beautifully. Tested it a couple times, back to normal. But might try 1.4.0.18 again based upon taotoo and aladdin answers. Will still probably have that OA bug though, but that was minor. Keep up the good work Isso, this program being on only version 1, it is almost scarey how good it might be by version 4.

Isso, all I can say is, "Keep on keeping on". As stated in my last post, I used the newer version to restore me to the older. After hearing the suggestion from taotoo and Aladdin, guess what I did, I used the older to bring me back to the future new version: worked beautifully. And the pre-Boot screen (ok that might not be a perfectly accurate description but that is what it is to me) is brilliant. Yes, I tested it, it works.

As for the minor Online Armor bug, if I change the Status (forgive me, Isso, if you are not familiar with OA) from banking to standard, THEN REBOOT, everything stays as it should (at least at this time).

Shoot, this program is absolutely addictive!

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, sorry for not stating this in my original posting.

I notice that the recovery CD is headed "Realcopy Recovery Environment" and is now very fast to load (stopping "Initialising Network" starts it even faster). Very impressed.

    Hi Mohamed,
Thanks for that instruction. It worked great. I knew there would eventually be an easy way to do that. ;)

I had some interesting results with this beta.

On my new desktops which are mbr disks, with UEFI bios mother boards, The hot restore results were the same, 100%. I built a new Recovery CD and it booted much faster, but, and it was a big but. No Mouse. Useless.

Then I installed the Local Storage. Again No Mouse. But then it was a bit of a pain to get rid of it. I clicked the uninstall and indeed it seemed gone. I made a snapshot at this point, and then to check rebooted. It was gone. Then I restored that last image and it was back. To get rid of it, I had to turn it off, check it was off, and completely uninstall AX64. I also cleaned out that last chain. Reinstalled and left it alone, and started a new chain and all is well.

Then there is my Sager Laptop. With Xp my hot restore percentage was about 85%. I then upgraded the machine to Win7X64, and everything I've installed has been fine except AX64.

My percentage of hot restores is ZERO!!. It was still a winner in that I don't need to restore that much and there is a huge time saving.

With this latest beta, the hot restores are still a fail. But the local storage worked and that saves time on restores.

I also tried Real Copy on this machine, and it was basically a failure also. My conclusion is neither of these programs like this raid 0 setup.

    Pete

PS Don't get me wrong, I love AX64.

    Hi Mohamed

OK, as a result of testing the new beta (i) hot restore, (ii) cold restore from CD, & (iii) cold restore from local recovery environment I can report as follows:

    (i) tried several and all worked fine except one (not sure why)
(ii) tried a couple with new cd & both worked, and faster
(iii) tried a couple and both worked

All this was under Win 7 64bit

@Isso, nice one...have to do a bit more testing but this looks very promising. Assume that this will be the base to which you apply the new hot restore solution, i.e., rebooting & running from a local recovery environment...and it bodes well for that.

Wishing you both ease of being.

    Regards

v1.3.0.7 has been flawless and doing some incredible things on x64 W7 SP1, so would you suggest I stay with it? I'm very disappointed overall in AX64, as it's causing me me to waist a lot of time testing applications. I keep thinking I'm on XP with Comodo time Machine!

Very Merry Holidays To All And Happy New Year!

Just learned of the new beta 1.40 8 so only a couple of brief initial confirmations to share before hammer testing hot vs cold image making/restores tests. (this week)

Reinstall over previous version as expected. Created RECOVERY MEDIA equally flawless as well as operational on reboot via not DVD/CD plastic but USB FLASH DRIVE.

Make note: Recovery Media creation still simple as pie to make on my Stock Windows 8.0 (No 8.1 here)

    Regards EASTER

Well, I installed 1.4.0.18 over 1.3.0.7 and I can NOT create recovery media! I am using XP Pro 32 bit and when I try to create the media...or an iso...I get AXTMApp.exe application Error.

Am I the only one? I went back to 1.3.0.7 and all is OK as it did create the media.

OH, what is the new local option, as it too causes the application error?
