Wouldn't you think that he would be the one working on G Data's own engine?

Is there a special addon/toolbar I need to install to have web/URL filtering on the free version (2.3) ?
    Thanks.

When you install version 2.3 also install te toolbar.
Later when you uninstall the toolbar (through control panel, software) the url filtering stays behind.
With this page you can test the url filter:

When i gave this product a try the other day the URL filtering did not work at all which is a problem i have seen and reported in the past and on top of that Panda cloud did not work with sandboxie. I hope they can eventually fix these issues because it looks like a great AV

No problems here, but I don't use sandboxie.
    When I go to http://www.cloudantivirus.com/testurlfilter/
    I get the block page.

I have been using Panda Cloud and Sandboxie together for some time with no problem.

However I can confirm that the URL filter doesn't work with Sandboxie so I use Malwarebytes Pro website blocking filter instead and that works just fine.

I tried it out again and the webfilter wasnt a problem this time because i paired it up with K9 web protection. This time i had a annoying "double detection" where it showed the same popup tsice for the same file/detection and then sometimes didnt remove said file. I guess Panda cloud may never be usable on my machine:(

I knew that, but promised I wouldn't tell.;) He is a good man and very talented at what he does. Also I hope PCAV finds a way to just roll their web filter into the main product. Then you will have a true winner. They have the ability, they just need to do it.

Also I hope it's possible to deinstall their web filter. I prefer light and slim AV, if you want bells and whistles use Avast. :D

Actually that's the program you can make even lighter and slimmer than Panda and most other AV's out there, if you regard the customizable installation and advanced configurability options. You can choose to not install the web-shield and e-mail scanner, you can set the fileguard to scan on execution only. Properly configured it's one of the leanest, if not the leanest, AV's of all.

You can choose to not install it during installation.

Web Shield has changed drastically with build 9.0.2011 so HTTP scanning shouldn't be of any problem anymore for large majority of users. After all, Web Shield is dedicated to URL blocking so removing it is not exactly a smart idea since URL blocking is one of the strongest weapons in most AV's.

Does that apply to Panda Cloud?

No as Panda Cloud doesn't have HTTP scanner as such. They only use 3rd party URL monitor (separate install that comes with that toolbar).

Actually to remove the search toolbar, you have to only uninstall it. During uninstallation, you'll be asked if you also want to remove URL filter. Don't uninstall that and you'll only remove search toolbar but not URL filter.

It's not designed for that as far as I know. You may encounter conflicts down the road.
