Another option is using an extension like Bookmark Manager, which i'm finding to be an acceptable workaround.

How to alphabetize them in Bookmarks Manager?

The 'Bookmark Manager' extension made by Opera Soft?

    :gack:

No offence, but I'd rather use the QAB & Speed Dial folders.

You can't. It's extremely, and I mean extremely, primitive. It hasn't been updated for months and I think it was DOA. They added the QAB and never gave the 'Bookmark Manager' extension a second look.

    I thought finally!

    But no!!!!!

Opera developers get it together. Get some help & fix Bookmarks.

Are you folks at Opera just getting drunk & doing nothing else? You must be high. This is madness! o_O

Good Afternoon! I Just kept Opera 12.16...I checked out the new version about three months ago...and immediately removed it when I saw the mess the bookmarks component was! Sincerely...Securon

I, too, holding on to 12.16, as the newer alternatives are unacceptable to me
    1. the missing bookmarks - disaster
    2. the missing site-specific settings - fatal flaw
I've also learned to use Seamonkey+NoScript+AdBlockPlus+Mozila Archive Format extension and it's wonderful.

zapjb sorry I didnt get back to you on the Bookmarks Manager extension sorting by name....
It doesnt seem to do that so I went hunting for a better work around. The best I found was to install 'Download Chrome Extension' (allows Chrome extensions on Opera), then go to Chrome store and install 'Popup My Bookmarks' extension. That has the option to sort by name in the right-click context menu.

There seems to be no way or I can't find it to import my Opera 12.16 bookmarks with Popup My Bookmarks.

Re: "Its all Chromium regardless of the labels"

So, what are the advantages of keeping Opera as opposed to switching to Chromium or some other variant of Chrome?

    Advantages? Uh... mouse gestures?

Unless you like waiting (and waiting some more) for Opera to get its features back, I'd just switch to Firefox, Maxthon or whatever, if I were you.

  17. Please don't advise browser with inferior security. Both have no low Intergrity Level sandboxing.

1 - That has nothing to do with the discussion.
2 - I didn't advise anything, I gave examples as a part of my argument. Hence the "or whatever".
    3 - Sandboxie exists.

Good to know, but until I see a proper bookmarks manager (and not some... bar) I wouldn't even think of trying it, much less keeping it.

Sadly it would seem Opera 12.16 and I would have to stick together for a looong time, considering the snail's pace of Opera's development at the moment.

They really need a to add back the bookmark manager functionality, it has taken them ages just to add the bookmark bar so I don't hold much hope.

It's a pity as it is a very fast browser even though it pretty much a Chrome clone, I get the feeling the devs are annoyed that we don't like the speed dial way of doing bookmarks & are just holding out hoping folk will forget
