It seems like those with lifetime license are safe.

The bad news is Tzuk will be departing from sandboxie.:doubt:

Oh this is sad. In six weeks Tzuk will be gone :(. I trusted Sandboxie because I trusted Tzuk.

What is it with all of these computer security companies located near Washington D.C.? :ninja:

In about six weeks, I will depart from Sandboxie. - Ronen Tzur

  5. Mhh, this does not sound as a take-over, rather a sell-out

    Technology take-over
Lead developer is part of the IP, hence this knowledge has to be secured (meaning lead developer gets a important development role in company which is taking over)

    Sell-out
Customers are valued and sold, as is the current going concern value (repeat business e.g. yearly licenses). Old owner/developer has to disappear and is not allowed to start a similar business in XX years.

Defense contractors and security companies like to stick near DC/Maryland. That's where the NSA is, that's just where a lot of stuff happens. Oftentimes there are tax benefits to be had in situations like that, though I don't know of them in this case.

As for Tzuk leaving Sandboxie, that does not bode well for the project.

Come on dude, no one died

I personally think, this is not good for S. B fans, however, as well as being one of the best programmers, Tzuk is also a gentleman. If he says , quote " There may be some changes, but please rest assured that there is little cause for concern " that gives some reassurance.

Thats bottom line I think. I have a gut feeling that this people want to get all they can get out (commercial customers) of SBIE and kill it.

    Sad Bo

Did I say someone died? Of course I didn't. So why would you indicate that I did?
Sandboxie, otoh, as we know it, is history. Dead.
Have you heard tzuk say that MS could release an update at any time that could break 64-bit Sandboxie?
Who will be around to release a beta fix in one or two days?
    Invincea?

Nothing in Ronen's post makes me feel any better at all. I agree that one change from MS for Windows can break things in a split second. His level of service to his customers set a very high bar. I have no other software that has left the same feelings for me.

I'm already looking around to see what options I have with for Windows 7 Home Premium. So far, nothing is like SBIE... :(

This is indeed very sad news.

So, this leads me to think, like someone else suggested, that we discuss which version of Sandboxie is the best for which OS. At least I am wanting to have a download or backup of the version of Sandboxie that works best for Windows 7 (64 bit). Others, I'm sure, may want to do the same thing for their OS.

So, Sandboxie guru's, which version of Sandboxie is best for which OS?

I think the best version is gonna be the last version in which Tzuk:cool: puts his hands on. As of this moment, beta version 4.07.05 it is (for XP and W7).

Thanks for everything Ronen, you've been one of the security gems of the past several years.

And for the rest of us, perhaps SB can be reincarnated someday just like FirstDefense was? .... nah, that would be too much grace to ask for ... :shifty:

    RIP Sandboxie :(

Thanks Ronen for the great product and I hope Invincea paid him properly for all his hard work.

Bo I would not count the latest version is by tzuk or anyways not by himself alone. You I think read the release that we have been under "invincea umbrella" already some time.

Just saying. I just feel they are not. Send me a pm if you think otherwise and have some proof.

You're likely to see a differing of opinions. I have numerous sandboxes with different apps in each and I can tell you that all versions from v4 and up broke too many of those sandboxed apps in both, my XP and Win7 Home Premium systems. So I have stayed with v3.76. But for others, versions 4 and up seemed to be fine.

Invincea, the name sounds like a barbarians name. Now I know how the citizens of Rome felt when they fell under the umbrella of the Visigoths in 410 AD as Alaric became King of Italy.

Ha ha...good one Bo. Since I was logged in I couldn't resist to answer this :thumb:
Also, I just want to reiterate and somewhat agree what has been entered on the majority of the above posts, that yes it is indeed a sad time for Sandboxie. Memories of Sygate firewall and Boclean are becoming more apparent to me now.

I wonder what Invincea's representatives have to say about all this. Or did I miss something?

Just look at what happened to Online Armor after Mike Nash sold it to Emsisoft, not the same as it was, and now its going to be integrated into EAM.

Sad that Sandboxie is headed in the same direction as Online Armor, downward. :'(
