Baidu PC Faster 4.0 Released

I just noticed 4.0 had been released a few days ago. The GUI definitely looks better. I have no idea how much better it is under the hood.

I briefly tried 3.5, and it didn't make things worse. On this forum it seemed to have a decent rep.

Is anyone willing to try 4.0? I'd like to know if when installed on a slow/older computer, if there is any noticeable speed increase, or if it is mostly snake oil like most PC optimization programs.

My intuition tells me that it's snake oil. Personally, i don't use this kind of software anymore since many many years.

 

Well, I just tried PCF v4 on an old P4 (1GB RAM) laptop and I'm not impressed. First of all, it plants itself in startup and reports the time it took your system to boot. I started and restarted several times finding PCF's startup time reports inaccurate. The same message box (which pops-up over the tray area) also reported the weather (temperature) in my region, which was grossly inaccurate. I found the font-size throughout the GUI way too small (just like its sister product, BAV). Finally, although it last reported my system was 18% faster, I couldn't see any difference!

I just want to verify that you are referring to PC Faster and not BAV (which I know you have embraced for your customers and yourself).

I have been using it for a long time and its great. It defiantly made improvement in my start-up by disabling the unwanted services and the different modules are great. It detected and cleaned a REAL rogue ad-ware plugin that hitman pro, eset, mbam, etc. had missed it.

So far I am happy with it.

I agree with Softpedia's conclusion and it is nice to hear them say that considering they would be affiliates for a number of the paid optimisation tools which are inferior to PC Faster.
