I don't know for Comodo, but for OA, I'd say not well. Yeah it must recognize that the exe is an installer, but I always ended up going into some other mode that didn't cause problems.

Issue is, if it is a simple installer no problem, but on a more complex install where there are several different installers involved, then you still end up with pop up hell.

  3. Some vendors hook consent.exe (so let windows recognize an installer)

It partly depends on what you are going to use the sandbox for. There has been quite a lot of discussion around Sandboxie in this thread, so it's best to read some of the posts and form your own conclusions about what will work best for you.

I am human afterall, these thing's do happen from time to time, it's called forgetting and making a mistake.

I was just making a suggestion for what could potentially help out with human mistakes, such as forgetting to switch modes.

These thing's do happen, as nobody is perfect.

Turned on my XP machine this morning and noticed that AppG service didn't start. Red cross on taskbar icon. When I opened Activity Report nothing was there, the slide was down on install mode and red writing at top saying service wasn't running.

In Event Manger it kept saying it couldn't find guarded apps despite everything seeming to start up okay.

Came online and Activity report started listing things. Screenshot shows Activity Report working, GUI saying it is turned off and taskbar icon with red cross.

Did the classic 'fix' for most pc issues, I rebooted. This time AG won the race and started and is working okay.

Had a similar experience once. After a reboot AppGuard service started working.

There is no public beta available yet for AppGuard. You can get the stable version from appguardus.com

What is the best way to deal with a program that isn't installed into Programs, but rather into its own folder that can be anywhere. I have two like that, and for some reason they are both flight sims, Kerbal Space Program and XPlane. They won't run as is unless I set AppGuard to install. I'd like to run them without changing the AG setting, but I also want them protected since I don't trust that they are totally reliable because they both have lots of mods.

    Add them to guarded apps.

I don't use either of these applications so, without more information as to where they're installed and what blocked events AG is generating, it's hard to be specific beyond making general suggestions.

If the reason the program won't run is because its folder is part of user space, you could try adding the folder to the User Space tab with the Include flag set to No and explicitly guarding the main program executable by adding it to the Guarded Apps tab in order to protect it.

Thank you fearlessscientist and pegr for the help. The Kerbal Space Program folder can be anywhere, I have it in my Documents folder.

I followed your suggestions pegr and it worked, Kerbal Space Program started up while AppGuard was set to Medium. Should I set the ksp.exe in Guarded Apps to 'on' or 'off' under Privacy?

It depends on whether or not it needs to be able to access files in your Private Folders. If not then, you can set the Privacy flag for ksp.exe to On if you wish.

Adding computer games to guarded apps will lead to problems in many cases , because some need to write to system-space a lot, if they have certain copy protection mechanisms in place.

Hello everyone. Yesterday I installed a vpn ( private internet access )
I am having a few problems. Malwarebytes keeps blocking IP relating to Process: rubyw.exe
I am not sure i can do anything about this, as it has been documented on the internet
However, Appguard is interfering with PIA, blocking rubyw.exe from some temp location in app data
I have made PIA manager a power app, and things seem to be running ok.
My question is, have i weakened my security by doing this. Thanks very much

I installed AppGuard 4.x and Sandboxie on my new Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit PC a few hours ago. So far, I have done the following:

    1. Added C:\sandbox to 'User Space'.
    2. Added C:\sandbox to 'Guarded Apps' 'Read/Write'.
    3. Added egui.exe to 'Power Applications'

    egui.exe = ESET NOD32 Antivirus

So far I am not getting any problems listed in the Activity Report or having any issues, but I haven't done much testing. I tried 'Locked Down' for a short time and got no problems listed in the Activity Report.

Does anyone have any suggestions concerning what I have done do far?

    Thanks in Advance.

Trusted Publishers? I only have BlueRidge and Microsoft as trusted and not guarded. Is this what other users do? There are other publishers listed, such as Adobe, Mozilla, Google and Sun Microsystems. I have these as guarded.

I have heard of some fake or stolen Adobe digital signatures from their latest security breach. Is there a list of trusted publishers that can be imported to appguard?

I assume you added c:\Sandbox to the settings tab, under guard apps. Did you have a problem that caused you to add equi.exe to power apps?
