What do people think of KeyScrambler? I was thinking to install it. Is it a good idea for me to install this?

I'll tell you this much, support is nothing to write home about.

It scrambles your egg keystrokes. It's a pretty tool but not something I consider as necessary, especially if you already have an anti-logger or CHIPS program.

I used it for a number of years and liked the idea of scrambling my keystrokes. It's just another layer of security. But it only works in the browser IE & FF, last I knew. Which is why I chose Zemana which has a wider scope of protection.

I was using, but started having compatibility issues with sandboxie a couple months back. Saw a promotion for a free year of Zemana Antilogger and jumped at it. I haven't installed KS since. Can't afford a yearly license renewal, so probably going back to KS when my current ZA license expires. Unless another deal presents itself.

Any recommendations for a good anti-logger?

It's not a browser add-on any more, I think it should work for Chrome and other browser as well.

Yeah, it looks like they've added quite a few more browsers since the days I used it. I used the free version which protected from the browser, it appears that hasn't changed. But the premium and pro versions do a lot more.

    Pure anti-logger:
    - SpyShelter
    - Zemana Anti-logger

Classical HIPS which should include logger-like behaviors protection:
    - Online Armor (has a firewall feature)
    - Comodo Internet Security (has many things within it)
    - PrivateFirewall (has a firewall feature)
    - Malware Defender (not sure, but it should have an anti-logger considering it's a pure CHIPS, 32-bit only)
    - ESET's HIPS (an AV with a HIPS feature)

Both types are chatty. And both types rely heavily on kernel hooking to be effective. So if you're on 64-bit OS, those programs will work weaker than if you're on 32-bit due to PatchGuard/KPP.

I've been using Keyscrambler Premium for quite a few years now and I'm quite happy with it...it fits in well with my system.
The only little problem is very occasionaly it forgets itself and you get a red warning that your text is not encrypted and you have to reset it. I use it ntfs drives, alongside Avast Pro, Malwarebyes Anti Malware, Shadow Defender, Sandboxie, Admuncher, Adblock Plus, Sygate firewall Pro with no overwhelming problems in XP sp3.

I've tried Zemana in the past but it conflicted with other programs.

I'm been using the premium version for at least a year or more and I've not had any problems with it. That little popup that shows when I'm typing is just reassuring that my keystrokes are scrambled, etc.

The last version I used was 2.9.3, and it was a great version. But then after they upgraded from Firefox 3.6 to v4 it stopped working. Then KS rolled out a version 3 that was supposed to work with new versions of Firefox, but I didn't like it. I don't recall the reasons, but it either didn't work or didn't work the way I wanted it to. So now it's a thing of the past.

Sucks too because I even purchased the Premium version. If they had kept it like v2.9.3 and simply made it compatible with the newer Firefox I'd have hung onto it, but they reinvented the wheel instead and made it square instead of the round kind that worked fine. An all too familiar story sadly...

It did what it was supposed to do... encrypt keystrokes on a clean box, and that's it. Many people tested it's effectiveness at stopping and/or even cleaning malware and it failed miserably, not considering the fact that it wasn't designed to do that in the first place.

Same here. It no longer resides on any of my machines, but I learned awhile ago that it is better to cut my losses with a program I don't like than to continue to run it just because I paid good money for it. The problems I had with it have been more or less documented already on this thread. It's gone like a cool breeze.

  14. Own the premium version and it's a dud. Sorry but it doesn't even stop the next gen of keylogger's. In other words useless crap app.

I think it's ok for free:

    http://www.raymond.cc/blog/keystroke-encryption/2/ :D

Most of the AV don't stop 100 % of keyloggers but I wouldn't call them useless crap. ;)

Ah, I've never tried Zemana and it's been a very long time since I tried SpyShelter, so I don't remember, there's something I didn't like about SpyShelter. But those two software got favorable mentions quite a lot of times. Other more experienced members can give some words perhaps?

My experience with KeyScrambler was not entirely pleasant. It would display the text I was typing as scrambled. It was a frustrating experience when having to write messages. It is the reason why I switched to Zemana.

BTW the only time i have used one was the one that came with kaspersky and i had to turn it off because it didn't work on my one computer for a certain site...can't honestly remember what site. It worked on the other computer though for my father-in-law so i am kinda sketchy of the idea but i am totally interested especially for TC

Well whenever i feel the need to enter sensitive data which incidentally is quite rare as i do not do any online transactions at all i would use a virtual keyboard.

So using a virtual keyboard would make programs like these redundant in my case would it not.?

I would think keeping keyloggers out is very much anti-malware ground.
Maybe if the AV companies incorporated keyscrambler techniques into their products then separate programs like this would not be needed.

Is this not the reason that virtual keyboards etc are implemented.?

KeyScrambler states that their premium edition works with twenty-five encryption programs, including TrueCrypt.

Zemana's free antilogger will notify if kestrokes are not encrypted by having the tray icon grey out. I've never noticed to grey out with with TrueCrypt. Zemana works with everything.

I asked the helpdesk multiple times about it, and never received a response.
