I have had this combo 24 hours now and love it. I tried to tell trjam ESET NOD32 was a good product but he wouldn't listen...(ha)...still likes Avira! Not really....

@jmonge = "removed shadow defender 1.3. (egads!) Is that just a temporary removal of some sort? Didn't think you would find that app a weakness in your security scheme, but.....

For me, still plugging along, grudgingly with Q 360-SD-Sandboxer-etc.

I actually have Comodo 5.12 old version on-demand standby mode since it's a balancing act to keep it's driver from blanking the Windows 8.0 screen at startup.

I may give Online Armor a try. Not so much for it's HIPS although you peeps seem to think it's a good one, and i don't doubt your positive experience with it

I do however really admire it's firewall capabilities though.

EASTER for sure i will install it back with sandboxie or just run comodo firewall with my browser sandbox as i always think that proactive protection is the way to go
note:for all to reads it is my own opinion with just hitmanpro and comodo firewall or online armor is more than enough

Both are very good now, far from deserving any of the contempt they still get from people who had bad experiences with them long ago.

 

I have no plans on changing my XP Pro SP3 setup until EOL do us part. Right now I'm contemplating on how to go about setting up Win7 Pro SP1 32-bit, which I'm moving on to come April 2013.

I'd appreciate some suggestions from those experienced & knowledgeable with the version I'm using.

Will Comodo FW/D+ work? Do you think I'd be better off with the Windows FW & something like Malware Defender instead? Will Truecrypt work?... as I'd prefer it over BitLocker, which I don't trust and is a big reason I went with Pro instead of Ultimate. How about the version of OpenVPN I use (2.2.1)? Sandboxie 3.76? (I prefer it over v4)

And namely, will I be able to get my emulators to work on it? Like FCEultra (NES), Gens (Genesis), Fusion (all purpose Sega), zsnes (SNES), MAME32 (arcade), Stella (Atari).

It would be great to be able to keep these all and only have 1 box set up, since my space is limited. But if I must I'll put them all on an old PC to keep around just for retro gaming. But it'd be a pain having to switch it in & out to the monitor.

Dropped Sandboxie so I could re-install LastPass. This is probably not the best trade, but it's only until some conflicts get worked out. I can probably manage without Sbxie, but it appears not LassPass. KeePass was too much trouble for my hyper-browsing habits.

Removed Avast! Online Security. Put Webroot SecureAnywhere and AppGuard back on.

Lastpass seems to be working in the last beta of sandboxie. I haven't had any issues with it at the moment.

 

Yesterday I tried the latest Sandboxie version 4.07.04 that tzuk released to deal with the Chrome/Sandboxie/LastPass problem, but the sandbox was still not emptying automatically. I'm following the forum and other places, it seems that LP has given tzuk and some other people a real problem with the 3.0 release.

 

One fascinating aspect of Wilders is learning what fellow members are willing to live with or without in their security setups. It really is one of the best recommendation processes available to us here.
I recall once encountering trouble running SBIE and OA firewall together. OA got the axe, without hesitation. For you, SBIE defers to LastPass.
I think you would agree that each of us learns the most about personal priorities in our own setups when faced with an either/or scenario.
Your philosophy and approach are to be admired.
You are always on the lookout for just enough.

After a few years looking for it, here are my pearls of wisdom: no such beast exists. But the hunt for it continues and is a lot of fun.

 

I actually ditched sandboxie for Lastpass. Only because I can't remember all my stupid passwords. I tried keespass and didn't really care for it. I knew it was only a matter of time before things got sorted out. I was sans sandbox for a while.

I understand what you and justenough are saying, though, about LastPass. I am that way about KeePass, though it would never bump SBIE off my machine.

Using both Zemana antilogging products because at the time of purchase, the paid version of Antilogger was not yet offering system-wide keylogger protection. Still using both antiloggers since the paid version starting offering that type of protection, because . . . well . . . why not?

 

You really don't need Zemana at all to be honest. Online armor has keylogger protection as does Emsisoft AM. For that matter you don't even really need Malwarebytes running realtime. OA and EAM are more than enough for most folks.
