Today i uninstalled Avast! Free. (Thanks for keeping my computer safe past 10? years.)
No real reason, Just wanna see how this works:
Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO

2 weeks ago, i also did start using:
Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit BETA and HitmanPro.Alert 2.5 BETA.

 

How does having Chrome Extension ZenMate help me at home if i am not trying to get past a Firewall or get to Banned Sites. Will it help me be more secure when online shopping and banking.

The only drawback is it often results in a performance hit, but lately that seems to me to be getting better.
I definitely use it when ordering online.

 

Trying ESET Nod32. Got a one year license, it's doing its first scan now, so far so good.

- Deny elevation of (signed) IE, Outlook and WMP (SRP)
- Deny elevation & installation of unsigned (UAC & GPO)

Intrusion mitigation
- Set Windows firewall to block both in- and outbound traffic (WFAS & GPO)
- Disabled risk-ware services (GPO) and HKCU autoruns for Basic Users (ACL)
- Added EMET memory protection and MSE auto-scan browser/mail downloads

Browser safety
- Run IE and add-ons in protected mode & program download disabled (GPO)
- URL filtering (Smartscreen & AdBlock+ TPL) and HTTPS pinning (EMET)
- Using AVG Secure Search or Startpage Search for security or privacy

Hardware defense: Secure Boot enabled.

 

I am currently giving Mozilla Firefox another spin. Before I was using Google Chrome. It's more a continuity of concept issue as I was not discontent with Chrome. The principle is to run all threat-gate applications under the supervision of AppGuard and Sandboxie. Since LastPass no longer works if I run Chrome in Sandboxie (nacl64.exe issue), Firefox gets a second chance. Of course I relish the opportunity to use the solid NoScript extension once again.

Windows 8.1 built-in Defender still runs in the background, because it doesn't bug me.
