    Dear all,

Here it is! The official general discussion thread for AX64 and Realcopy. This thread was opened in the spirit of benefiting users and improving our product. Because ultimately, user satisfaction, feedback and support is what propels us to do what we do.

Here you can have the freedom to make suggestions, pitch ideas or ask any question that relates to Realcopy/AX64.

Here's some background information to propel discussion:

    Background Information

-AX64 and Realcopy teams are now merged. With more talent on board, we hope to provide better products and support than we ever hoped to achieve in the past.

-Since AX64/Realcopy teams have merged, the original AX64 thread got a little crowded, often going off topic. The AX64 thread should stick to AX64 related topics (tech support, feedback, announcements and questions and praise that directly relate to AX64).

-With Realcopy and AX64 merging, we have confirmed that we will continue to develop and maintain AX64. In addition to this, we will release a new product that integrates the features of AX64 and Realcopy. So we have two products: a streamlined product (AX64) and a feature rich solution with all the bells and whistles (Realcopy).

-We plan to have a name that encompasses both products. There is consensus that AX64TM isn't the most user friendly.

-We're essentially a startup that is funded by our own pockets. The support of our users and increasing our awareness of them is essential for our survival.

So that's that. I'll kick start discussion with the following post.

AS always, thank you for the support.

    Regards,

    Waj

I'll kick start discussion with attention to the last two points from the previous post:

    -New name

What do you guys think of the name:

    Realcopy: Simplex
    Realcopy: Proficio

For the AX64 renamed app and the advanced product respectively.

We're poor so raising awareness for our apps is essential for our survival

We don't really have a lot of money to have giant billboards posted on sky scrapers or cool ads with CGI effects. But what we can do is utilize social media like Facebook and Twitter to increase our reach. We are very gracious to our Wilder's community, and cannot thank them enough. But the reality is that outside of Wilder's we barely have a presence. It would go a long way for you guys to 'like' our products. It would go even further if someone has something kind to say about us, share it on Facebook.

I despise self promotion, but if it means our survival I'm all for it.

Here are our social media channels:

    AX64

    Facebook page
    facebook.com/ax64llc

    Titter Page
    twitter.com/ax64llc

    Realcopy
    Facebook page
    facebook.com/realcopybackup

    Twitter Page
    twitter.com/realcopybackup

    Thanks guys,

    Waj

Looking forward to the gold master. You guys definitely have my support. I think Realcopy: Simplex is better, maybe because it shares an x for nostalgia.

    How about just

    RealCopy Standard
    RealCopy Pro

That would be more in line with current naming conventions and sound much less pompous.

Sorry, but since you are asking; adding Simplex or Proficio after Realcopy doesn't seem to mean anything that would lead me to conclude "backup", or "restore". Names are tough to choose, and especially market.

    Maybe something simple:

RealCopy: XACT (sort of pays homage to "AXTM"), and adds the "word" EXACT to RealCopy. You just simply add "Pro" (RealCopy: XACT Pro")

XACT could be: "Advanced Computing Timemachine"

Best wishes with the new products.

ps: RealCopy: ProTX adds a variation of "PROTECTs" to the RealCopy naming conventions. It is nice to be either EXACT or PROTECTed.

Also my view; it´s clear and understandable. Sorry but simplex somehow reminds of herpes simplex...
    Utterly bad...

Hi Wajamus, Thanks for starting this thread! I think that the new AX64 needs to have the word Time Machine in the name so folks recognize it immediately. Simplex makes me think of a medication for constipation or something. To incorporate "Realcopy Timemachine" to replace AX64, and "Realcopy Image PRO", would say it all. Once you settle on a name we can start promoting the new products.

Unfortunately, like Selukwe, herpes simplex was my first thought on reading the Simplex suggestion :(

As RealCopy has to be in the title, RealCopy Standard and RealCopyPro are the front runners at the moment I guess.

(my personal choice for the renamed AX would have been RealAX because that's what I feel i can do when Ax is installed...relax :) )

Do you have Youtube video showing how to use your products and what your products can do?

I would vote for Realcopy Standard & Realcopy Pro. But the question I would ask, is this going as a download or will have a disk to purchase. I have purchased several programs that I had to download then if something out of your control goes wrong with your PC , or changing your ISP then get the problem fixed. Then try to get back to whom you purchased download from and try to download again. That's when the fun begins. its a procedure that I don't want any more.

Also a good idea, nice symbiosis of both products merging. And I also like the relax pronounciation...:)

Always save the .EXE install someplace where you can re-install if you have to. Also as long as you have your purchase key you can also re-install from the App website. I haven't bought a boxed software since 2001. :)

not to fond of either name to be honest you mentioned simplex ... not at all. and proficio imo is just not what anyone i know of would think of a imaging program and what it is really. real copy image is better. do you still want it to be called "realcopy _ o_O?" or what about just a name for the product and leave the company name realcopy. like terabyte has "image for windows", acronis has "true image" etc... imo there could be many more options that way.

Good suggestions twl, I like these names a lot. Both names identify what the product does and are simple and straight forward,,,,,,,just like the products they would represent.

    Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback guys, also extra thanks to the guys who paid us a visit on FB.

Agreed, simplex and proficio sound pompous and really don't sing to the sound of restore/backup.

We'll keep the brand as Realcopy, and the product named separately (in the same vein as Acronis True Image, Storage Craft Shadow Protect etc). I wouldn't mind changing the name, but web domains with common words like restore, copy, time etc are very expensive.

    I quite like the following:

    Advanced Product

    TimeRestore Pro

    Streamlined Product

    TimeRestore Essential

Another thought, AX64 and Realcopy are separate products lines with uniquely different UIs. As such, it might be a good idea to keep their names different, at least beyond just the 'pro' or 'standard' differentiation. Just a thought though.

So here's a few more including some of your suggestions for ADV and Streamlined versions respectively.

    Adv product:

    TimeRestore Pro
    Image Pro
    ImageProtect
    BackupProtect
    Realcopy Standard

    Streamlined Product

    TimeRestore Essentials
    SnapBack Imager
    TimeMachine
    Realcopy Pro

We will eventually whittle the names down to a few popular ones, then make a poll. The winning name and its inventor will win licenses to the up and coming 'integrated' version. :)

The team has reflected on the fact that Shadow Image, True Protect or Protect Craft are all great names for any combination of our products. :D

All of this naming discussion seems unimportant to me. All I care about is functionality. That is what will proliferate it's use.

You've heard the expression "what's in a name". In relation to products a name can make or brake it's popularity. I'm sure if I said Coca Cola you'd immediately know what I'm talking about. So it's very important that Waj chooses a name that will stick in peoples minds once it is chosen. ;)

On the same note: why not leave it AX64 Time Machine as it is now (with a possible Pro addition if there is a more comprehensive version). After all, it already very well established itself as one of a kind. What's wrong with this name? It axes very well...:)
