Thank you. I decided to disable it just to be on the safe side.

    ESET FTW! :p
Its realtime scanner is faster than anything..... It makes Webroot look like a turtle.

  3. Windows 7 Ultmate 32 bits (E5200 dual core at 3 GHZ with 2GB Ram and SSD + 2xHDD + NAS & WL Router)

    Execution control
    - Allow execute from UAC-protected folders and D:\ for admins when Microsoft/Adobe signed (AppLocker)
    - Deny execute file/traverse folder for Everyone on D:\ which contains Temporary Files (ACL)
    - Deny elevation/installation of unsigned programs/drivers & add-ons (UAC/GPO)

    Intrusion mitigation
    - Disabled risk-ware services (GPO & MMC) & set Windows firewall to block in- and outbound traffic (WFAS)
    - Block program download (browser/mail) & USB-autoplay (GPO) and scan these when allowed (MSE)
    - Locked all sysinternals user autoruns for basic user (ACL) & added memory protection (EMET)

    Browser safety
    - Run IE and add-ons allways in protected mode with HTTPS-pinning rules
    - Build-in IE smartscreen with Dutch AdBlockPlus Tracking Protection List
    - Using AVG Secure Search or Startpage Search for security or privacy

:ninja: MSE uses less than 0.02% CPU with auto-scans for browser downloads, mail attachments and USB inserts
 Using switch on/off for 'locks' on program download (IE) and execute file (D:\) to install/update

I'm running the v4 beta of Baidu Antivirus now. So far it has has been extremely light.

I have nothing else to protect my system, and I have UAC disabled.

Started a 30 day trial of NoVirusThanks EXE Radar Pro. Removed LastPass for the first time in years because the new 3.0 release has problems. Trying KeePass instead.

you need to create an export file within lastpass.
Choose export and it creates an XML lastpass file and then keepass imports this file.

    Hope it helps you.

Never miiiiiind... Firefox still feels clunky even until now. Not as clunky as my mother's old kerosene stoves though. One of them exploded a few days ago. :argh:

Did anything out there detect cryptolocker file encryption with heuristics, before all the vendors learned a signature of sorts?

I wouldn't know about heuristics, but I think EAM would have detected it because of its behaviour. File reputation approaches would have blocked it or asked you for confirmation because of its unknown nature. Trusted Applications Mode in KIS 2014 wouldn't have allowed it to run in the first place. HIPS components would have asked for your confirmation as well.

Replaced EMET 4.1 in my setup with Sandboxie as EMET was causing a little bit of a drag on performance.

Had to remove K9 as it crapped out again so I replaced it with NortonDNS and added the Malware Domains to my ABP list.

And I also had to remove HMP.alert from my setup as there were a few bugs when combining it with sandboxed chrome.

  19. No in the hitch hikers guide to galaxy 42 was the answer to all questions.

J being the man who changes security setups more often as Elvis changed suites, 43 must be the answer to all our security questions

    J + 42 = 43

Logical ain't it (to quote the most famous Dutch J) you only see it when you get it

'Been living dangerously recently. I turned off Applocker and have UAC set to never notify. That said, will ERP work with UAC set to never notify?
