I made a bootable CD with TI7. When I booted the CD, it failed to recognize my external USB hdd device.

I get an error below :

usb.c : usb device not accepting new address=2 (error 71)

How can this be possible? I thought usb 2.0 devices are supported by TI7. The drive is working perfectly fine in winXP. If i can't backup/restore to my usb device then this software is useless to me.

Details of my USB device is combo hotdrive model HD1-U2FW. It has usb and firewire connection.

    Thanks in advance.

Hmmm....my problem is I can't recognize my external HD when using the firewire port. Your problem seems to be with the USB port. What kind of external HD device do you have?

i tested it on another machine which is using usb 1.1 and it works fine. Seems to be able to detect the usb drive and recognize the partition in it. Could it be usb2.0 problem or related to motherboard difference?

    Hi, abubin

From what you say above it should not be a usb2 problem.

If I was you I would check your BIOS to see how the USB Controller is set.

It should be under, Integrated Peripherals>On Board Chip PCI Devices, make sure it is enabled for 1.1 and to 2.0.

    Take Care,

yes, it is set at that already. Anyway, I tested further by removing "quiet" options to see the logs and also tried adding the "acpi=off no apic" option. It somehow seems to be able to detect the drive and load the drivers but when i try to create image, it will freeze when it's detecting the USB drive's partition. FYI, the USB drive contain 1 partition with FAT32 and ACTIVE. It is detected fine when i tested it on another machine that is running usb 1.1.

    Hi,

a partition can only be active when you are going to boot from it.
So this can be the problem: change te partition to logican station in extented partition and see if the problem is fixt.

    Peter.
